Very solid win other than the end of the first half. Bench was good tonight. Brogdan, the Green Kornet, Hauser and Batman all played substantial minutes and even Pritchard played some. Paytons rookie option was picked up by Celtics. Does that mean anything more? Perhaps trading one of Smart, White or Brogdan is in play? I'd lean towards yes, as we have more than enough depth there but for Bigs we have Timelord whose to often not ticking with injuries and grandfather clock Horford who at his age has his own questions, so there is an obvious concern there. Even when they were 3-0 I mentioned the D was a concern but for tonight at least it was good. Edit, nice to see Jalen get 10 rebounds I'd like to see him average at least 7 this year.

the UniKorn
Hauser might be the best shooter in the league, if he rounds out his game even a little he’ll be very valuable

It’s amazing what effort on the defensive end will do.
They do need to address the lack of size and rebounding, but last night was a step in the right direction overall.

Yeah...defense had been noticeably lacking. It was a very satisfying win for a Celtic fan. Man they are shooting lights out from 3 so far... Endorphins for the masses.

Ok, SSS but Hauser is at 55.6% of 3s and he of the 0 for his first 25, Grant Williams, Leads the NBA at 66.7%.
Celtics are shooting 39.9% as a team...third in the NBA.

Nash out in Brooklyn. Jacque Vaughn interim but Woj reporting that they'll look into Ime.

Ime to Brooklyn wrapping up, per Shams. C's letting him go freely.

In what world do you let him go to the Nets and not receive compensation? We got a first round pick for Doc and he went to a different conference. If you allow him to leave without compensation to go to a team in your division Stevens has lost his mind!

I don't know the Nets seem to have lost their minds, after trying to hire Ime and his sexual misconduct in the workplace thing going on. They're the Nets, however.

Do coaches still get traded? Thought that they were trying to get rid of that.
Also, if the C's think he's a bad dude, just washing your hands of him is not "lose your mind" worthy.

Yeah i don’t think the Celtics are the ones to lose their minds here. Talk about a desperate organization

Doc Rivers, then after that Jason Kidd for two second round picks. Isn't that what Sham is talking about with letting him leave freely? You could have just fired him. The whole idea of not doing that was so this doesn't happen. Reports back then Nets would have dumbed Nash for Ime. Gave you the ability to steer him out of the division or even conference. Now this, he's the perfect coach for that team.

I think the whole idea of not firing him had more to do with trying not to pay him.
EDIT - and there is still the possibility that we don't know the whole story yet (and it could be worse). Don't get me wrong, I would've loved comp but I'm just not sure it's outlandish that they were happy to just get away from it all.
Also, Doc was a VERY different situation. A guy that the C's would've loved to keep (but he didn't want to go through the rebuild) vs a guy they needed/wanted to get VERY far away from.

How? Given what we know at minimum he broke team rules, that allows you to fire him with cause and not pay him. Only way this makes sense is if the reports are wrong and he didn't break team rules. They simply suspended him for sleeping with a higher ups wife, yet that seems rather crazy. Given Ime didn't fight it and took the suspension with huge fines.

I think it makes sense. The compensation is getting rid of the headache and salary of Udoka.

Yeah now they don’t have to pay Ime anything and can wipe their hands clean. What a terrible look by the nets this week though, sad + pathetic franchise that deserves the absolute worst
In other news- our old pal Romeo Langford got minutes for the spurs due to Josh Primo being a sex pest and Pop now thinks he’s their best on-ball defender. Proud of him, I hope he can develop into a rotation guy. The effort is there.

Firing someone with cause and withholding compensation can get messy. So you may be technically right but it can also lead to a lot of crap down the road. Including but not limited to, a drawn out legal battle and/or a bad reputation around the league. Remember it doesn’t matter what’s “right” or “allowable”.

Looks like they’re back to the “play zero defense” strategy.

Very streaky game. When the Celts shots stop falling, they just give up easy baskets.
