Why does this team miss so many layups - why don't they dunk the ball? Tired legs?
Just heard a stat - when they shoot 40% or better, they are nearly unbeaten. Under 40% they are under .500.
And once again - what's wrong with Tatum? And, what's wrong with Smart?

Approaching half time, we seem to be playing down to the competition again. Tatum 2 for 11, 1 for 7 on threes. Ugh. Jason, needs to affect the game in other ways, because he was way off tonight. Couldn't hit the floor if he fell. Bird had off shooting nights and he'd get more rebound and assist and steals. Jalen was on point and a few others played solid like Brogdon but not a good night.

Well, we can't say that the Celtics aren't making it interesting and giving people fodder for discussions! I just have a nagging feeling they really can be as great as their motivation - a dangerous game to play if they can't find the "on" button once playoffs hit. I suspect Mazzulla is having an interesting time sorting the team out right now!

Marcus Smart has been garbage since his return and Tatum is way, way too inconsistent to be a superstar.
Refs tried to gift us the game and we still blew it. Complete embarrassment.
Mazzulla should be taken to task for once again giving Derrick White under 30 minutes. I know some was foul issues but still insane.

The whole All Star game experience seems to have swelled Tatum's head a bit. I also wonder if the Stoudamire departure is hitting the team a bit? Seems the players really liked him. tonight was one of those rock bottom games, though. Can't have many more of those.

It bugs me that Jayson brushed off Jaylen after missing the layup.

Just tuned this in after half time - nearly tied in the first half, but Celts seem to be on fire in the third.
BUT - Tatum 4 for 12, including 0 for 7 on threes. so - again - what's up with Tatum?

How is Marcus still playing more than Derrick White? This is nonsensical.

Tatum can get into these really passive stretches sometimes. Not that he should be isoing up every possession, but he can’t go half a quarter without a paint touch.

We’ll always take the win, but I’m not sure how Jaylen gets so few touches down the stretch when he was carving up the Wolves. And the lack of Derrick minutes are just baffling at this point.

Celtics should win this - but...Tatum 4 for 16, 0 for 8 in 3s. Grant - 2 points in 26 minutes, including 0 for 3 3s.
They barely won - and they are not clicking on all cylinders.

Also my big takeaways from the last couple of crunch times Nice to see Grant make some big plays at the end there. He needed that Grant has been so frustrating, but I’m weirdly not worried about his finding his game for the playoffs. Tatum and Smart have regressed back to how they were playing the first half of last season. Marcus needs to focus on running the offense rather than looking for his own, and Tatum - where do we even begin? He’s so much more efficient when he attacks early, which sets up his perimeter game once defenders start playing him for the drive. But for some reason, he’s abandoned his post-up and dribble-drive game in lieu of lazy 3-pointers. The formula is there, they just need to get back to the simpler things that work.

So Lonzo Ball having a 3rd surgery that’s going to automatically make him miss most of next year already. Guys career is cooked. Poor guy weighed down by his father then finally gets his space, starts playing really well and then knee injuries kill his career.

Celts up big going into the 4th - but Tatum just 2 for 9 on threes. Getting his points at the FT line.
Smart having a weird game - 5 assists, 4 turnovers.

Mazzulla not calling a timeout on a 19-3 opponent run on a back to back on the road is inexcusable.

Once this team gets a big lead, it's just "chuck up the mindless threes" time. We were up by 19. Now it's close to being tied.
The ship seems a bit rudderless at the moment.

At this point, we are outscored 14 to 5 in the third.
Now 25-11. Does this team learn anything?

I like the leadership Brown is showing while Tatum is in his funk since the AS break. White and Brogdon too.
Somehow, they dug a hole and filled it back in all in the third.

It has turned into the Grant Williams show in the 4th
Tatum is a -13. Really disappointing game. 4 for 12 shooting. Missed layup.

Tatum truly, truly has been bad since the allstar break in the 4th. Bonehead plays, constant bad contested iso in crunch time, no ability to drive with conviction, just disgusting.
Pretty sure he's banged up, and I get it's a back to back on the road, but fairly concerning heading into playoff time.
Running a play for Grant Williams at the end to go to the rim against one of the best rim protecting bigs in the league is just poor coaching, or a dumb improvisation from him. Yet another winnable game given away against a mediocre team.
Mazzulla inexplicably refuses to play White again. Starting to think this dude is not a good coach.

Yet another dreadful loss to add to the later part of the season. Disgusting is a good word for this. Outworked - outrebounded - outplayed.
Tatum can kiss the team MVP goodbye.

Missed free throws late, blocked shots late, missed layups late. We've shown quite a few ways to make games close (that should not be) - but then not have the ability to close. Decision making hasn't been great.
Continuing to play down to the competition. Big stat - offensive rebounds - 17 for Utah, 5 for Boston. 69 Percent on FTs. Outscored in 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.
