I think at this point there will be teenagers who will not have been alive for a Yankees World Series.

Hate defending the Yankees, but no LeMahieu or Benintendi certainly hurt them. Needed a pinch hitter in the 9th for Trevino and had no one.

Remember this when it’s March again and the Yankees are “the best team in the league” once again.

What will Boone whine about tonight? Maybe the non-reversal of the Altuve play at 1B. He went with the injury excuse. He used two of the answers in his post-game presser to say they weren't healthy.

Gio Urshela: .285/.338/.429 2.4 WAR, 119 wRC+ (would have ranked third on the Yankees for position players who played more than 100 games)
Carlos Correa: .291/.357/.479 4.4 WAR, 140 wRC+
Thank you Minnesota for conning Brian Cashman into taking a 36 year old Josh Donaldson’s contract so you could swoop in and nab a stopgap deal with a star shortstop the Yankees should have done. Move that killed their season, and we salute you

The same Trevino that yankee fans half way thru the season swore was one of the best catchers in history? And the Astros were missing Brantley who is better than both players u mentioned

Costas just said that attributing the Astros' 2017 title to cheating is as off base as continuing to attribute the Patriots' success to Deflategate or taping the Rams' practice before their first SB win. Dude, Deflategate fizzled and is now widely considered a Goodell fraud and they didn't tape the Rams' practice. Inexcusable mistakes for a guy with Costas's experience and supposed knowledge. Only in New England. Every Steelers, Colts, Rams, Eagles (okay, I can just name every other team) fan believed the hype and still does. Not a soul west of Springfield has read the Wells Report or ever heard what was really in it. Whatever, though. It is what it is. I was referring to within the NFL. I recall a media story after it was over in which the writer got 11 owners to offer an anonymous opinion on it. All 11 said the NFL had crapped all over itself by making the allegation.

What can I say the Astros are their daddies. Honestly though, is that 4 playoff eliminations now? (2015, 2017, 2019, 2022) now I know how Angels’ fans felt about us (1986, 2004, 2007, 2008) lol

We have more WS wins in this century than any other team. And I think we're second to the 'Stros in most MFY eliminations in this century.

What will Boone whine about tonight? Being Fired, but the Sox fan in me wants to see a extension. I love seeing the Yankees flop every year and have a winning record. That'll get them no where, like they've been for over a decade now. He was extended last year. Two more years left. No telling how long Cashman's contract is. From what I've heard, the remaining Steinbrenners hate paying guys to not work for them more than they hate losing in the playoffs, so they'll prolly both be back. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if they were both gone now. At least we would stop hearing people like Jay Jaffe pumping up Cashman's HOF resumé...

Also not to be a homer, but their starting pitching is due for regression. I don’t think any AL East team is going to be a juggernaut, still the toughest division in baseball, but no clear favorite. Our team still needs a lot of work to compete though…

When you're a Yankee fan, you expect to win the World Series every year. When they don't, they get all weepy and want to fire the manager and boo their best player (Judge). Judge is the face of the team and if the Dodgers or Giants or someone else signs him, their identity is gone and probably next season, as well. Hal isn't going to want to pay him $40 million a year, but someone else might. Not Henry. He's got Boggy and Devers to worry about. I doubt he would pay much over $30 for each of them.
So, the off season is going to be very interesting.
Anyway, if there's no joy in Beantown, the MFY sweep took the edge off.
