nice dramatic angle of the homer What a great video. Each of those faces lining up for the angle on the homer - player, coach, umps, fans. "Like a Renaissance painting," as they say (though they mean Baroque).

Now we get the big matchup, Ohtani vs Trout. I'd say a bigger stage than a game 7 World Series.
Yoshida is pretty clearly on his way to WBC MVP.

It’s easy to hate on the WBC in December, to roll your eyes at these highly-paid professionals risking injury or at least underpreparedness when they should be in spring training shagging fly balls. But that was one hell of a game and it’s been one hell of a tournament so far, and I can’t wait for the final.

Who will have a better offensive season this year/ rest of carear. One step farther, who is better overall player. Yoshida or Boegarts. I still probably go with Xman as an overall. Hitting I’m going Yoshida. Would have loved a top 3 of the order of Yoshida/Xander/Devers. Cora is looking for that righty to break up Yoshida and Devers and with Xander's OBP skills and the ability to hit for power, that would have made a great trio. Oh well.

This was one of the greatest games I've ever watched. I wonder if I will feel the final is anti-climatic, much the same as the Sox in the 2004 World Series after coming back from the Yankee series.

You are unrealistic and Turner. You are being needlessly insulting. For about 6 hours it looked like X was returning as that's what was out in the press at that time when the Sox had just signed Yoshida, so yeah, the thought came into my head about how they'd make a helluva one-two punch. Doubt I was the only one who had that thought at that particular moment. It just didn't happen because the media was way off.

Have ignored the WBC and now regret it.
The bat control on Yoshi is astounding. VERY exciting!

That mfer is FAST! “I was thinking about the bunting, but coach Kuriyama told us, ‘Just to do what you can.’ I made my mind, and so when I hit the ball, I was hoping it was going to go into the stands, but I guess I didn't have enough power to hit the ball out of the stadium. I know that [pinch-runner Ukyo Shuto] was a really fast runner, so I figured we would win.”

I had lost interest in baseball somewhat but have been following the WBC and enjoying the heck out of it. It's good for the sport. Would love to see Yoshida carry his success over to the regular season.
