Texas what are you talking about? If you tender Bryant, you'd have 4 CBs who started games last year. Jack Jones looked like a young Ty Law and was the 2nd highest rated rookie defender last year per PFF. Frankly Marcus Jones wasn't far behind and certainly looked like a future starter. Nevermind he listed future Mike LB and Edge before WR. I'm sorry but there is no way to define need that has WR #7 and #10. Because Thornton was a 2nd round pick? I don't care where he was picked, he didn't look as good as either Jones and he's the only WR under contract past this year.
Like I said you can certainly debate things, yet there is no rational way to defend putting WR #7 and #10. Edge is the strength of the team, one of the best in the whole league. So it's certainly not more of a need now and even next year Judon versus Thornton. One of the better Edge players in the league versus a rookie who's yet to play up to a high level?

Come on now, that's Jets team with Rodgers and an actual OL would be scary. Let's hope he costs a ton in trade and his crazy salary depletes the Jets depth and makes it hard to build a complete team around him. Otherwise that's a scary team and you'd have two elite teams in your division.

I’m hearing rumors that Rogers may sign with the Jets. That could be tough on the Pats. Makes the division even more difficult. I am really confused here. The Pats are not Super Bowl contenders and are basically rebuilding, whether they admit it or not. I don’t get the fans who are acting like we are a piece or two away from contention.

Bedards piece on the WR position was published and demonstrates why it's absurd to spend 1 second worrying about the order of needs.
He'd love to see an investment like trading for Hopkins, signing Berrios and drafting someone early.

Everything good teams do is mostly based off needs. It's literally why he starts off with needs, then finds solutions. Cole Strange was our first round pick and top of the board because of need, most of our recent draft picks were. Most of our free agent money goes to biggest needs. So how you rank needs really matters.
If you want to see an investment like trading for Hopkins, signing Berrios and drafting a WR early, then WR isn't #7 and #10 on the need list. This is basic crap. If you spend that much cap space and draft capital on WR it has to be a huge need or you're just acting stupid. Like Packers taking Love and Dillion, that worked out really well. Instead of an all-time great QB getting a guy like Higgins, Pittman or Kmet, they got a backup QB that did nothing to help your QB and a back up RB.

Well that sucks, just massive difference between having McCourty on roster on that cap charge and now having to find replacement. Especially with what is likely a younger CB group.
Makes my first move rather easy, go sign Jordan Poyer. He's older, going into age 32 season so it shouldn't be some massive deal.
I could see resigning Jones to be the FS also.

The Patriots are going to need to get a left tackle at 14 if they are going to get one in the draft. I count two (Jones and Johnson) that fit the bill, one (Harris) that could fit with some strength, and two who will probably have to play other positions due to size issues (Skoronski (shorter arms than Wynn), Dawand Jones (probably too big to guard the blindside))

I'm so happy and amazed at the same time. I would have sent out picks and money to actually trade him. The fact you saved money and got a pick is GM of the year type crap. Are we missing Smith redid his contract or something like that?
It's the move you had to make, for the team, Mac Jones, O'Brian, OL, passing/running game and even Jonnu.
Feels like Christmas came crazy early!

Reports that Bucs could be looking to trade Shaq Mason. So BB giving up less than a 5th (what we got for him) to acquire him, redo his contract and then extend Onwenu to play RT is how we all see this playing out, right?

You're missing the obvious that the Bucs release him and Pats just sign him back for less, no effect on Comp picks. The OT market is flaming hot. I don't know how I convinced myself we'd play in the deep end there, but I was WRONG. Andrew Wylie for 3/24 would have been something I considered in a vacuum, but based on funny money numbers don't love the rest. But so far a good day for Pats with JJ/Davis/MacMillan on good money and Jonnu's bad money out the door.

Re-signing Jones on a reasonable contract and moving Smith’s guaranteed money is a great start to free agency.

Tremaine Edmunds off the board. Bears signed him. They've been VERY active.
