Jessie Bates to ATL 4/64. Pats could have gone in that direction, but thats getting kind of pricey.

I bet Jonathan Jones plays a lot of FS with Marcus in the slot and (as of now) Mills + Jack Jones on the outside. Obviously that outside group needs to get deeper

MVP of the offseason? Jimmy G's agent! 3yr/67 with half guaranteed. Not even close, Daniel Jones at 4 years 160 million, over 50% is guaranteed

Jimmy is never healthy but he is 40-17 in the regular season and 4-2 in the playoffs. It’s not sexy but he just wins. I think he’ll look pretty good in that Raiders offense. He’s surrounded by talent. He just needs to not be glass.

Jalen Mills just tweeted "Yall know I really play S, right?"
Also interesting that NE was in on Andre Dillard (signed with Titans). Didn't figure them as players for a FA starting T but . . .

Obviously that outside group needs to get deeper I don't mind Jonathan Jones at safety but Jalen Mills on the outside scares me. It's a deep cornerback class this year. I would love to get Devon Witherspoon in the first. But I'd also like to get one of the tackles, particularly Paris Johnson, in the first round too. I'm still hoping they sign Orlando Brown so they can enter the draft with no overwhelming needs and they can just go for the best player available. Sydney Brown on day 2 would be a really nice addition (how did the Illini become a football power?)

At the risk of rehashing this conversation, WR isn’t a NEED it’s a want. You have Parker, Bourne and Thornton. The only reason to bump one of them out of the lineup is with a real number 1 type go to receiver. Other than that you sign a depth guy and draft another. They have solid, guys there who should be effective with a good coordinator and a good line. So for next years team, a number 1 guy is a want and depth is a lower priority need. I agree with Bedards assessment there.

Tremaine Edmunds off the board. Bears signed him. They've been VERY active. I wanted him

Wouldn’t mind if they look at Drue Tranquill if they want to add a LB in free agency

RJP how in the world is #1 WR a want, yet #1 CB isn't? You say you side with Bedard, he's listing #1 CB, not CB depth. Nevermind I don't think I've been pounding the table saying #1 WR is this huge need, it's WR in general is a huge need. You have one guy under contract next year in Thornton!
If you believe Bedard, I'd love you to explain how #1 CB, future LB and Edge are bigger needs. I mean what you're saying about WR is the point I made about #1 CB. It's what he wants, not a true need.

They’re 100% drafting that Rutgers punter that allowed -11 return yards and they’re doing it in the 4th round
They’re gonna need a big leg on kickoffs too. Maybe they run it back with Folk but I wouldn’t mind going double rookie at P and K

I agree with Bedard on his sentiment around WR. Whether someone weighs short or long term more or less is personal preference. Number 1 corner is arguably a bigger short term need, if you believe a dominant D is required. This defense has been a fraud against top QBs. I think their biggest issues have been MLB and number 1 corner. It’s why I wanted Edmunds.

Reports that Bucs could be looking to trade Shaq Mason. So BB giving up less than a 5th (what we got for him) to acquire him, redo his contract and then extend Onwenu to play RT is how we all see this playing out, right? Mason to the Texans. 6th for 7th pick swap as well.

Would’ve been fine bringing him back at that number. He didn’t seem thrilled with the way the coaches handled things last year (particularly at QB) though so maybe he just wanted to move on

Also, if Pats wanted a "true #1 WR - likely an X", then the combined number for all of the WRs might not be something that NE wanted to do (even if Meyers # alone, isn't problematic). That being said, there were ways to move off others (Parker cut would've been 0 dollar hit, Bourne an option to move too).
I'll reserve ultimate judgement until we see what they are doing at WR.

Wow, 11 million a year seems reasonable for Meyers.

The Agholor signing was a total bust, but to be fair, it is easier/cheaper to replace possession/slot Y/Z receiver production than it is to replace deep threat X receiver production.
I probably would have tried to match that contract, but they probably have the dollars allocated elsewhere.

Also, as Bedard and others have pointed out, JM gets to keep about 3M more of his 33M than he would in Mass.
