Himmelsbach reporting that Boston will, indeed, look into trading for Holiday. Don't see it happening, but man I would absolutely LOVE that.

My guess? Rob and Brogdon and most of the picks. You have to do it.

Bucks made that trade because Holiday has been rather bad the last two playoffs. He hasn't been a good 3 point shooter in playoffs in over a decade. Lillard while hurting our D, would have fixed our offense in the playoffs 100%. I'm not convinced Holiday does, not with our coach.
I'm not sure Brogdon, Horford, Pritchard and a 1st makes you better or is a deal you should make. Robert Williams, Brogdon and most of our picks for a 33 year old Holiday is laughable. Go look at his advanced numbers last two playoffs, he chocked more than Brown ever has.
If you can find a way to trade Brogdon and filler for him, I'm game. New rules make that hard, but maybe a three team deal. Otherwise go look at a guy like Cole Anthony and/or work on using the Unicorn in the post to bust zone D. That's why we got him no? An inside out offense kills zone D.

John Hollinger of The Athletic wrote a masterful column today, breaking down the trade for all parties involved. He also listed his top 3 trade choices for Jrue. C's at 3rd. Here's an excerpt:
"The Celtics can get to a salary match on Holiday, but it’s complicated. Malcolm Brogdon would be involved, but he makes $22 million in 2025-26 and that’s $22 million more than the Blazers want to take back. Additionally, the second contract in a Boston deal has to be either Robert Williams or Al Horford, which nukes the Celtics’ frontcourt depth … unless they make the salary match Brogdon, Payton Pritchard, Luke Kornet, Sam Hauser, Jordan Walsh and a signed-and-traded Blake Griffin instead. A six-for-one. Whew.
Unlike a lot of contenders, the Celtics still have all their future picks to trade, plus they turned Marcus Smart into a future first from Golden State that is now available to put in a deal like this. Boston could offer five firsts if it wanted: 2024, ’26, ’28 (lesser of their own or San Antonio’s), and ’30, plus the Warriors’ top-4 protected pick this year."

Sign me up for either
If Brogdon really is unhappy with the team maybe they can send him and picks to Orlando for a package of Anthony + another useful piece that helps match salary (I’d say Wendell Carter but I doubt the magic are interested in that)

I’d love a 23 year old Anthony for Brogdon but I doubt they can pull that off.

Brogdon, Rob, GS first and 2029 Boston first. Don’t like it.

I love Jrue. I hate losing Rob. Smart, Brodgon and Rob for Jrue and Zinger is an upgrade. But the training staff better be getting OT pay to keep it going.

Wow Stevens needs to be fired. Robert Williams was a game changer on D. We just keep getting older with more inflated contracts.

People wanted to change up the mix, the mix certainly has been changed!
Best PG they’ve had since Rondo
Thats a lot to give though. I imagine they went with it because they don’t trust Timelord’s knees as they age. I will miss him immensely, one of my favorites. A great success story at the end of round 1.

Rob is a favorite and I’m on record as not lining this deal, but Rob wasn’t great in the playoffs last year and it’s impossible to rely on him. Bigger question is who plays in the front court this year? Tatum going to see minutes as the “big” in lineups?

I'm not sure about this one. Timelord is an incredible player, but he has major durability issues. Brogdon was probably as good as gone. Jrue is a fantastic player and a terrific defender, so that on a vacuum would make it a good trade. However, there's absolutely 0 depth in the frontcourt now, Horford is probably better suited for a team ambassador role at this point in his career. You better pray to god that The Porzingod's health hold up well.
The closing line-up of Jrue, White, Brown, Tatum and The Porzingod is one of the best line-ups, on paper, of all time in this league, bar none. Lot to like and a lot to dislike. We'll see. Huge fan of Jrue though, so I'm pending GOOD TRADE.

Really hoping and praying that Porzingis doesn't get hurt after trading Rob. Celtics have put their chips in this year with an older Holiday and Al aging rapidly. They better get it done this year, no more wait till next year thinking.

Bigger question is who plays in the front court this year? Tatum going to see minutes as the “big” in lineups? He actually was great, he totally changed the games in playoffs like he normally does. Advanced numbers back this up. Giving me some time to cool down, maybe they know more about his medicals than I do. I hate to hope for that, given I love the guy. He's been my binky since draft night. You almost have to play small now most of the time and we are going to have painful stretches with both big out. If they start the year with both Horford and Unicorn starting they are asking for trouble. I'd say Unicorn, Tatum, Brown, White and Holiday. All of a sudden that trade exception needs to go towards a big.

Do they actually let him play PG or do we get what we have for the last two years? Holidays value watching Tatum and Brown dribble and attack the basket isn't going to be good. Rondo had full control of the offense and raised his game in playoffs, Holiday has been horrible last two playoffs.

It is what a lot of us have been clamoring for- I hope they do it. If they just use him as a 3 and D guy then this is a waste of assets

The real question is what do the posters of BrewersProspects think about Jrue going to their key competitor. Us too - how do we feel the relative delta between the Celtics and Bucks has changed between this week and last week?
I agree with the sentiment that planning for a healthy Rob was always a big risk.
I also am happy he's not on the Sixers. Gotta love seeing this:

Brogdon, Rob, GS first and 2029 Boston first. Don’t like it. I don't like it either. I LOVE it. Going to miss Time Lord, no doubt. But often hurt. Jrue is a tough team player. Maybe the best guard on guard defender in the NBA (Marcus could guard bigs too, but often struggled with his primary assignment). Bonus Effect: more playing time for Sam & Peyton & The Green Kornet. This team just got eminently more watchable.

This team just got eminently more watchable. I very much agree with you friend, but one thing giving me pause is that Joe Mazzulla is the coach. There is a non-zero chance he'll have White running point and Jrue as a wing.
