Pillar is I think the best comp I've seen for what a reasonable expectation might be for Rafaela. With the hope that the defense doesn't fall off as much as Pillar's did, that's a really solid player. Ezequiel Tovar is another one I've brought up before where I think Rafaela's MLB line could look really similar, but we don't have a long track record with him yet. If he's better than those guys that's awesome, but those would be totally solid outcomes to me. really hard player to judge on he's defense is MLB ready but Rafaela having a high chase rate could be exposed at the big league level. But right now he's doing extremely well at the triple A level. But isn't a player with bad plate discipline supposed to be exposed at the AA and/or AAA level as well? Rafaela has sailed through those levels so far. You'd think his undisciplined approach would be catching up to him before or by now. Maybe Cedanne is destined to be an extremely unusual player.

Presented without comment I'd bet the house that the idiot who thought up the one swing thing in spring never actually played baseball. How does this guy even have a job in baseball ?

Not really, Jeff Francour and Will Middlebrooks say hi. That's just off the top of my head, if you do a deep dive I'm sure you'll find hundreds of guys with terrible plate discipline who succeeded in the upper minors. I think the best we can hope for with Rafaela is that he slowly adjusts once he's up in the big leagues which is easier said than done. I'd take a Yadier Molina like carrer path with the bat.
