They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

With a sweep they'd be 1.5 games behind the Astros, and catching them or the tumbling Rangers and the banged up Blue Jays would seem eminently doable.
With two wins they stay in the hunt.
With one win they're hanging on by a fingernail.
If they get swept it's time to start looking at draft order.

But the game gets played on the field.

No roster moves? Murphy is done for several days. We are short staffed. Raffy news?
Got to be Jacques to have a lefty? Walter just pitched.

Statistical quirk: Bello is edging very closely to the qualified innings threshold. If he goes 6 2/3 tomorrow, he would reach the mark (though then obviously fall under again the following day). He would currently place 11th in the league in both ERA and BB/9.

Got the three pitchers going that I think we’d want. I think winning this series is an imperative. Bullpen should be in pretty decent shape thanks to Murphy’s long outing. Predicting some big Devers games here.

I want to see Masa get back on track this series. There are a couple of very hittable pitchers on the docket and he's had a bunch of rest lately. The slump has gone on for quite a while and he is such a difference maker when he's going good.

Sox called up Bear claw and optioned Murphy so no lefties in the pen. Let’s hope they don’t have to face Yordan in a high leverage situation late in the game.

Omg not even September. I wasn't expecting this at all but I am hyped. Is Wilyer going on paternity? I guess that would bridge us to September.

the bad man Abreu can’t hurt you anymore this week Houston! You’re in luck!
Hopefully when he’s activated Hamilton goes down. Excited to see Ceddanne

But I am legitimately curious who, between Valdez and Javier, you consider to be "very hittable?" Valdez is fifth in the league in opponent's batting average. Javier's career Opponents Average is sub-.200.

Javier looked horrendous vs us the last time we faced him and has been bad for a few months now.

Good to see Raffy back. Bummer to see Pablo hit the IL. What exactly happened to Reyes? He hurt his elbow two games ago on an awkward swing. He played the entire game yesterday, but apparently it was giving him too much trouble.
