I’d like to see Bobby take Refsnyder’s role next season. The lack of power has been mind-blowing (only 1 HR which was against Springs). Also better defensive versatility and baserunning from Bobby, I think that would be an upgrade If you wouldn't mind about a 100 point hit to the OBP. (I would mind.)

He would be better at hitting RHP, and OBP should obviously be weighted higher than SLG, but with a .312 SLG, Refsnyder’s offensive profile is a lot weaker. He also has a 91 wRC+, which Bobby could probably top playing the same positions. The .312 slugging is abysmal

Pivetta breaks my heart. Biggio at bat, he throw a beautiful 95-mph fastball to go 1-1. Then just misses with nasty 90-mph slider. Then gets a looking strike on a nice curve. That is a pretty amazing three pitch mix on display in three pitches. Why can’t he put it all together in just one season? Even now I dream of the Derek Lowe or Rick Porcello dream season where everything goes right.
Add: and somedays I ask why he can’t put together for one start.

He hasn’t been making enough hard contact this year, which is always a concern, but if he could get up to just a .400 SLG then he’s perfectly fine for his role.

Pivetta seems doomed to be one of those pitchers whose stuff seems incredible, his mental make up seems great (a real bulldog, a fighter, really emotional) - yet is doomed by one bad inning each appearance. I think we see exactly what he is - no better, no worse. As to what to do with him to maximize his value.

So grateful that Chaim thought it was necessary to extend Refsnyder.

These bad at bats with risp and bad base running is so annoying.

We. Can. Not. Score. Runs.
Let me clarify - we clearly can score runs if you look at the overall stats. But we have games when we just can't bring them in. We've become a RISP LOB machine in this horrific stretch.

If we lose today we help lower the MFY playoff chances (none of us want a 1978 repeat)

[To the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel]
Second and third and nobody out, Red Sox fail to sco-ore. Two innings in a row, Red Sox fail to sco-ore.

Another failure. Quit playing scrubs like Dalbec, Refsnyder and expect to "Compete" for a playoff spot.

Dalbec is playing cause Casas is hurt, and, anyway, dude deserves even a tiny chance after his season. Yeah, I’d prefer Abreu to Ref, but whatevs. The only issue to me is how specific guys do, guys we need going forward. If they don’t score because of the B team… whatevs.

Story really can’t catch a break. I feel like he’s had four or five at bats where he took ball 4, didn’t get the call, and ended up striking out. And now here he smokes a ball at the third baseman, who plays it off the chest about as well as you can hope in that situation, beats the throw by a mile, and still doesn’t get a hit.

Refsnyder hit .138 in August and went into today's game at .111 for Sept. He just got his second hit this month.

Youk makes a good point about the Braves running the same lineup out every night, but he left out the part where all of their guys are insanely good and do not need to be protected from bad matchups
