One negative that might matter: Whitlock continues to look pretty diminished. He was hurt by a call, but he was helped by calls, too — and either way, hr gave up a legit line drive single and a bomb. Have to wonder how truly healthy he is.

I sure do miss 2021 Whitlock. In fairness though, I'm sure the kid is still hurting emotionally.

Casas and Devers will be the 3, 4 next year they'd been doing that until Casas injury. Gonna be absolutely terrifying sight for pitchers for the next 5 years.. or decade, please. We need a big RH bat to hit right between those two.

Idc so much about the Sox losing, but I hate helping the Jays waltz into the playoffs. I really wanted the Sox to make them suffer, but instead it was a sweep.

Another day, another step closer to a better draft pick.

Another day, another step closer to a better draft pick. Maybe the new regime will encourage the drafting of a high floor college starter this time !!

Well, just 2 games behind Cleveland now, which is sort of interesting. Getting past them means moving up from 11th to 9th, since WAS is locked into the 10th pick. They're 5 GB of the next team, though, so 9th is probably their ceiling (sans lottery luck).

SFG lead the Cubs 9-5 in the 7th. The Marlins crushed the Braves, 16-2. Those are both good for us. Az. and the Cubbies are on ESPN tonight.

How come MLB doesn’t allow teams to trade draft picks? It’s one of the more popular trade vehicles in NBA and NFL(not sure on NHL). MLB teams can’t be trusted to handle this?

Do you mean that by drafting a college pitcher you may get a Hall of Famer? That did happen, sure. And we also drafted a gifted bowler in the 5th round too. I would consider these exceptions that indeed prove the rule (#TINSTAAPP). Though, I'd be okay if the BoSox started focusing on bowling prospects in the 1st 5 rounds.

A yr or two behind Gonzales. More than one way to build a staff. Tanner Houk, Clay Bucholtz and Aarron Sele are other examples of keepers the Sox drafted in the first round.

Though, I'd be okay if the BoSox started focusing on bowling prospects in the 1st 5 rounds. It's pretty simple. All I'm saying is they're not all duds. I try not to deal with absolutes like TINSTAAPP (I feel like that's a cop out for teams that can't draft and develop pitching). I think some pitchers are better "prospects" than others, that's all. I get the injuries, attrition rate, etc, but I don't believe all pitchers are necessarily a dime a dozen, or created equally.

Welp,we got 3 really good starting pitcher performances this weekend, all from guys under contract for 2024. I'll take that as a win ! Not really sure what you mean by that but I would not base anything for pitching for 2024 than one series in 2023 in Toronto. We need at least 2 top to middle of the rotation starters and possibly even a third starter added. Bello is the only reliable middle to top of the rotation starter we have. The rest are at best middle to back end and I'd include Sale on that list simply because you cannot depend on him to be healthy and even when healthy this year he's been a bit erratic with great starts off-set by terrible ones. He needs to consistently hit his spots now that his fast ball is not as over powering as it once was.

Texas, by the way, not looking too hot with their picks of Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker at #2 and #3 in consecutive drafts. Jackson Jobe, who the Tigers took right in front of Marcelo Mayer, currently has a 45+ rating at fangraphs.
