Patriots claiming 4 players: LB Curtis Jacobs OT Demontrey Jacobs DT Eric Johnson OT Zachary Thomas ADD: No players claimed (per Mark Daniels) Bailey Zappe signing to Chiefs PS. Pats need to make 4 cuts, 2 will Certainly be on the OL as they aren’t carrying 10.

JuJu and Zappe in KC has me thinking they're itching to get all our secrets for our dynamic offense.

So the Patriots loved Lowe and Wheatley so much, they decided let's do that again? You know because released OT in a league desperate for them works out all the time.
Eric Johnson is the most experienced players and Colts have a deep and good defensive line. He might be some depth.
Curtis Jacobs the only one I knew without looking it up, is a Bentley style old school LB type. Which you already have a bunch of them.
My guess is that most of these guys were claimed to later be put on the practice squad or maybe emergency depth if they send Lowe to IR. Johnson might make the opening day 53.

FWIW
Harris (who announced he's signed to PS) Fornadel Wilcox Russell and Giles-Harris
still had lockers today. Would assume we'll see announcements shortly.

A few notes from the media-access portion of practice:
🏈 Jacoby Brissett still 1st QB through drills, followed by Drake Maye (pictured)
🏈 Among those not spotted: WR Jalen Reagor, CB Isaiah Bolden, G Michael Jordan, DT Trysten Hill. Likely let go to make room for waiver adds

Hill and Jordan (additional cuts?) and Sow and Lowe (injured - maybe to IR) were not spotted at practice per various reports.

Can’t believe they actually didn’t right thing and cut Reagor Unfortunately, they followed it up by cutting Bolden. Hopefully, they can get him back on PS.

Im happy they resigned Harris, Landers and maybe Fornadel but thats about it. They obviously were not going to get stars but this group seems pretty lame.
Im kind of surprised they didnt keep Zappe. He would have been a fine mop up guy after Brissett gets run over.

I'm happy that they got Harris/Jennings back on the PS. Really felt like using a 53 spot for 1 was unnecessary but they'll likely need 1 (or both) at some point this season.

That which we knew is now known. Jacoby named the starter.

Prediction. 3-14
The record for most sacks allowed in a season is by the Eagles (1986) with 104. We would need to allow 6.2 sacks per game to beat that. Second place is the Giants (2023) with 83. We would need to allow about 5 per game to beat that. I think that is within reach.

I don’t have an issue with Jacoby as the starter. I do have an issue if Drake is now scout team quarterback. Drake should get every first team snap in practice, because that’s your franchise.

If Jacoby looks as bad as he did in the pre-season this is going to get interesting. I don't want them to rush their plan with Maye, whatever that plan may be.

Reagor back in the locker room per Doug Kyed (PS, perhaps?)
Others chiming in saying Bolden, Jordan as well. And Tristen Hill still has a locker but hasn't been seen yet.

I don't really disagree with any of that write-up but at the same end with all that being the case, they really shouldn't have drafted Maye then. If reports are true that the Giants really wanted to move up for him they should have gotten multiple draft picks for him and punted on picking a QB this year. It would seem unlikely to me that all those issues will be fixed by next season so now you've probably burned through two seasons of team friendly QB contract before the team resembles a contender in any sense of the word.
Then again I guess if they thought he could be the franchise QB it's hard to pass up on it so it is a bit of a catch 22.

If you believe a guy can be THE guy, you HAE to take him. You may not get another chance. Figure out how to develop/support him after you've drafted him. Communication aside (again, I'd be stunned to think they are telling US everything they are telling the team) I give them credit for not letting the allure of bringing out your shiny new toy lead them to decisions that could end up breaking that toy.

It’s entirely possible all we need is a left tackle by the time next year rolls around. Andrews is a really good center Onwenu is an excellent RG or RT. Sow looks like a good guard that can play left or right side. If one of Strange/Robinson works out then you push Onwenu to tackle. If Wallace works out at RT then you also only need a left tackle. Offensive lines can be broken quickly but can also get fixed rather quickly when your have a few pieces already.

To me if the OLine is nearly as bad has been written about then it needs more than just a LT in order to become a solid line. Not saying they all need to be purged there are a piece or two that could be members of a good oline but something isn't passing the smell test here. I guess I would agree that the line can be fixed relatively quickly but we'll see.
