Geekie has been RW2 for most of camp. I agree with Fluto that it's likely:
Zacha/Lindholm/Pasta Marchand/Coyle/Geekie Frederic/Poitras/Brazeau
He suggests Kastelic and Beecher will be on L4 with their alignment depending on Jones health. If Max can go, he's LW4 with Beecher/Kastelic. If not, Beecher/Kastelic/Koepke

Swayman signed 8 year x 8.25 Saw one report that said 8.25 and 1 that was 8.125. Either way, Bs have confirmed the signing.

Good job Cam for putting the pressure on and getting this done. You never know that can work or backfire, I'm glad it worked.

I know that's what they are going to do but god is it going to suck.
Anyways, I guess it's goodbye Bussie since Swayman is signed then, shame, since he just had his best game of the preseason... hopefully another team doesn't claim him off waivers.

15 forwards and 9 defenseman left, surprised they hadn't send Regula and Mitchell down yet. Regula's at least injured so he might be going on IR but it's a little surprising to see Mitchell still there.
As for the forward, I'm assuming it's Max Jones that gets cut, but idk.

Practice lines today:
Zacha/Lindholm/Pastrnak Marchand/Coyle/Geekie Jones/Frederic/Brazeau Beecher/Kastelic/Koepke
Poitras (non-contact) skated. Tufte also an extra
Pairs:
Lindholm/McAvoy Lohrei/Carlo Zadorov/Peeke Wotherspoon/Mitchell
So Fluto's lineup suggestion is, pending health, probably on point. If Poitras healthy, he pushes Frederic over to LW3 and Jones down to LW4 (w/Beecher over to C4 and Kastelic over to RW4)

Johnson may be a Heinen situation where they’re having him wait around while they get things squared away Tufte and Koepka both make the team

Poitras just standard IR (counts against cap but not roster spot).

Ullmark locks in a 4 year deal at the same $8.25 million number ($33m total). Makes Swayman's deal look better I guess.

Ullmark locks in a 4 year deal at the same $8.25 million number ($33m total). Makes Swayman's deal look better I guess. I'm baffled that anyone would even question Swayman's deal. The only argument I've heard against it, is at best weak and at worst very naive. The one argument I've heard is he's never carried the load of a number one. Well what does a # 1 for a top 6 type goalie mean. Looking at the last few seasons it appear to be around 55 games or even less. He played 44 games last year and was among the best in the game. So lets play along with that narrative for shits and giggles. 11 more games over 6 months or roughly an extra game every two games is going to make him fall off enough to not warrant that contact. I challenge anyone to step forward and make that argument. That point was made by the team because they want to sway the mass consensus in their favor should things have gone awry. I truly hope no-one was naive enough to fall for this line of thinking. Another point I'd like to make is that Swayman was in fact a better goalie than Ullmark's Vezina winning year for all but the first two months of that season. Swayman has been basically a number one from the moment he's put the pads on and pulled down a B over his equipment he just had to share the limelight with another top goalie. In no capacity did that lessen him in any way nor should the thought of carrying the load ever been a question. It reminds me on an argument I had with my brother, may he RIP, regarding Pedro and why he thought he was not an ACE or a Cy-Young winner I forget that detail, regardless I think I finally convinced him he was wrong, not that he'd ever admit to it, when I brought up the stats that Pedro would have had to have pitched to reach the level of whatever factious level of innings pitched my brother deemed neccessary and the quality of pitching came out to be below league level by a decent margin. That finally shut him up and I hope it does for anyone thinking Swayman is not worthy of being paid among the top 5 or 6 goalies in Hockey. A deal that will only get better in time.

It never made a ton of sense to me but the other argument was just that that 2nd tier of goalies were making around $6 million while a comparable forward is an $11 million player and defenseman a $9.5 million guy, but with Sorokin, Swayman & Ullmark all getting $8.25 & Saros getting close to that I think that's just the goalie market being raised and you'll see a lot more lock in at the same number during the length of Swayman's deal. Still seems cheap enough to me, I like Charlie McAvoy a lot but I think Swayman is more valuable to us now that we don't have a 2nd elite goalie, don't really know why the market has valued goalies so much cheaper than other positions.

8x8 to me was a fair offer and I was frustrated it wasn’t done so 8 x 8.25 doesn’t bother me at all
My only regret is I wish they would have gotten it done earlier so he could’ve played opening night but it’s all water under the bridge now

Officials with a no call on a blatant board from Greer on Pastrnak and then lose control of the game 13 min in
Worst officials in all of sports imo
