Sam Vecenie was mentioning that the Celtics could potentially get under the 2nd apron if they traded Payton Pritchard, Springer and something else. If that’s the case, you gotta do it. Trading Pritchard for an extra year or two of Jrue/White is worth it imo. Soxprospect user Don Caballero talked about it too earlier in the thread. Trouble is, who are you going to replace Fast PP with? I love Sam Hauser, but I don’t trust him to be our whole bench offense. And if Jrue or White go down, you’re boned. You would only make that move if you were confident in a couple of the young guys.

Scheierman can really play. His vision is great and he rebounds his area way better than you’d expect. Pair that with his shooting and it’s hard to envision him not ending up a good player. As a UConn diehard I’ve watched a lot of him the last couple years and he always stood out even in off shooting nights.

Pritchard can start for way more than a few teams and his best role is probably 6th man scorer off the bench for a title contender. Dig deeper and you see a crazy efficient scorer based on usage with a very high assist rate, with a very low turnover rate. Like add him to Wolves and he changes that team, why they traded up to get a similar type player in the draft. Heck he's probably a better fit for Mavs playing with Doncic than Irving is. He's basically become a Lou Williams or Jamal Crawford type player. While that might be true for the finals when his shot went cold over 5 games, that's not true for the whole season or even rest of the playoffs. He's in the conversation as your top back up with Horford and Hauser. Those 3 combined give you the best bench in the NBA and 100% fit this team's play style. He also sets a great example playing 100% all season long. You wouldn't judge Hauser by his horrible Pscers series would you? You need to be crazy careful using G-League stats and highlights to project players roles in the NBA. I like Walsh upside, but he's still years away from coming anywhere near the impactful player Pritchard is on a championship team. Like I said, I'll be happy if he can assume Brissett role and be a 1.5 to 2 winshare player. Scheierman during a few games when guys are injured could do that, sure he's that skilled on offense. That's not him becoming a 5 or 6 winshare player though and he's further behind on D moving his feet than Pritchard was, he's more like Hauser on D as a rookie. Took Hauser to year 3 for his D to make a huge leap. Remember he's your typical college leading scorer who applies most of his engery on offense and doesn't yet now how to play 100% on both sides of the game. You could have just said “I think Payton Pritchard is a better fit in Dallas than Kyrie.” I would have just stopped the back and forth at that point. That tells me everything about how we completely differ on basketball. News flash the Celtics finally won because they played team Basketball over iso. Irving is the worst fit for Doncic who is the most iso crazy player in the league. The Jays are finally undoing the harm that Irving did.

I remember watching a white 6’7 point guard play against my Providence College Friars in the tournament four years ago. As a true sophomore at South Dakota State, he was the best player in that game by a wide margin. If Scheierman can shoot it close to Hauser’s level (which I have some doubts about), he might be the first man off the bench in certain matchups.

To be clear, I'm not saying Pritchard is the better player, I'm saying he's a better fit because they would play more team Basketball and he'd actually provide floor spacing. Irving is maybe the most anti team Basketball player I've ever seen because he just goes straight iso after bringing the ball up without running any offense. It's literally why we improved when he went down in 2018, Rozier played more team Basketball. Those were fun debates! Watching him in finals just keep shooting the Mavs out of games was like watching his last series with Celtics. When asked about it, he said he should have taken more shots.

Welp, there are about 12 million men in New England that are here for you and your argument. I’m not one of them. So, let’s move on?

Scheierman will be a great shooter in the NBA, that's basically a given. 5 years in College and he was a beast every year. He doesn't have Hausers size and he shoots flat footed basically, it's why I never liked that comp. He's more like Pritchard if you had to pick a Celtics comp.
It's all about his D, the fouls standout in the boxscore.

Queta looks like he could be a major contributor this season and beyond. My hopes of Jordan Walsh taking some of OB’s minutes have been dashed

I'm having fun with the game, great defense by Walsh and Davison, sadly not enough anything else. But truly good defense! Scheierman really not involved.

I like what I've seen from the 20-year old Jordan Walsh. I expect when regular season starts he'll chill with the offensive crazies while continuing his menacing defense.
Good that JD has improved his shooting. But if he doesn't get better defensively, and with his effort, he'll never play. That, and some terrible turnover decisions.
Queta in the rotation promises to be fun. Does Anton have some "finesse" to his game? Is 22-year old Jaden Springer's hard-playing defensive presence enough to carve a 10+ minute role this year? Won't Scheierman look terrific when playing with the regulars?

Scheierman had a sweet hustle play, but he didn’t get many touches on offense because JD/Walsh/Ramsey were ****balling on that end of the floor. A lot of bad decision making, particularly from Ramsey and Walsh imo. You can tell Baylor has good feel for the game.
Bronny may end up being a decent bench piece with further development but he’s nowhere near ready to play in the NBA at the moment, pretty hilarious he got the contract he got

Really bad decisions. But then next time he came in he looked like a legit shooter/bucket-getter. I didn't notice him defensively, either plus or minus -- need to watch that going forward. Walsh losing his mind for a few possessions I'll forgive because he's young, he's probably been told to shoot the threes when open (can't be a "3 & D" without the three), and he plays his ass off defensively. Hopefully JD will have a productive year in Maine. He has some NBA skills. Almost forgot -- I want to see less of Harper Jr. (like never again) and more of House Jr. (can we start him next game?). What energy he brought to the Summer League (him and that scrappy little cat on the Lakers)!

Gary Trent on a 1 year deal is a good get for the Bucks. Lillard recruited him.

The best thing for me is how he's worked on his body and plays D like the Celtics do. We talked rather in depth about him on draft time years ago. I watched a ton of tape, he just keeps improving. He's literally Stevens Hauser type addition and he locked him up for 3 years at minimum rates.
