@redsoxstats 'Bello's throwing a 4-seam fastball for the first time in 2024. He's thrown 10 so far tonight, most coming in the last couple of innings. They've got him a pop out and a handful of strikes. Last season, batters hit .310 BA, .646 SLG against it.' I'm pleased to see them letting him throw the 4-seam again. If he uses it sparingly and strategically, I think it's better than totally ditching it. Also should be easier to command than his other pitches when he absolutely needs to get a strike, because all of his other pitches move so much including the 2-seamer. 4SFB and cutter seem to be the obvious places Bello can look to expand the repertoire. He could use an extra look or two to help miss some more bats.

Makes me a little nervous that some of the success is just coming from a) breaking the scouting report and b) facing the Marlins. But for tonight happy we got a good Bello game

Players clearly having fun - Duran, Rafaela, Devers. Casas, of course. Next elements of team leadership are in place. Dare I say this? Rafaela is putting Mookie out of my head - at last! I like the way Refsnyder and Wong also show up as leaders of this team.

That was the most routine/lazy dive I have ever seen. Love that guy.

I'd have had Bello starting tonight at the Woo. I've not been a Cora fan since his rehire, but he's doing a solidly above average job this year working his guys. Man is getting it done, and exceeding my (admittedly low) expectations in 2024. Keep reading Cora isn't coming back next year. If that is the case I think we fans are gonna find out how good we had it.

I think the warm fuzzies I am having about this team are more about the young/emerging personnel - but I can't easily discount that Cora may be doing a great job. I was REALLY ready to move on from him in August of last year. We've got some time to figure it out.

He deserves a more talented squad.

Raffy settling in to a nice season. Could be 5 WAR. one hit away from 1000.

All I know re; Cora is that if I was an MLB owner I would not pay a manager top of the market money. It just seems like a total waste and so I won’t begrudge Henry if he decides not to do that.

Wonder if they’re just giving Abreu an off night? Otherwise I’d easily pinch hit him before Hamilton

That 2-1 strike call to Hamilton was garbage. Wanted to see him walk and steal second standing up.

Not quite sure the point you are trying to make here (not being snarky). You do NOT want him extended if in the upper 25% of managers? I don't know how I feel about it, FWIW.

This is a low scoring game with so many base runners.

My personal preference is slightly that Cora comes back, because I think he’s okay and I like continuity. However, I think that the difference between the best managers and the average ones is pretty small, and that the Red Sox could probably find a very good replacement. So if I was the owner and the rumors are true that he’s going to become the highest paid manager in baseball I probably would choose to let him go.

Raffy LOVES Dommer hacking at that 3-0 pitch.
