Not sure what’s confusing about this trade. We traded Nick Yorke for a starting pitcher who was a top 100 prospect last year. Seems pretty straightforward.

Big groundball guy. Only 23 with some big league run. Get him in the lab!
Priester was a 1st round pick out of HS a handful of years back, he’s not some schlub

Wow, that is a lot more than I was expecting from a Nick Yorke trade.

Yorke was a primary trade candidate, made total sense to move him. Trusting Breslow here.

He’s a project. But I like the fact they got a projectable potential starter.

He was #60 on MLB Pipeline's top 100 prospects last year. The write up:

Fastball grades out horrendous on the pitch metrics and he throws it 15%. Andrew Bailey licking his chops

He’s got big time prospect equity and he’s super cost-controlled, so the long-term upside is high. But if this is to help in the short-term, they better figure out what’s wrong quickly.

A could-be solid 2B for a could-be solid SP. Seems fair

My biggest question is how this impacts the rosters. Might Breslow be willing to trade a guy like Pivetta now? Or is one of the current starters going to the pen? Or is Priester starting in AAA?

This is where Bailey earns his money and makes Breslow look good. I liked Yorke. It's too bad he didn't get a look while in Boston. I wanted to see that unique stance.

Not a win-now trade for a guy who was prime win-now bait (I'd think). But, diversification of assets is a good thing. Best to Nick Yorke!

Some interesting stuff here. 93rd %ile GB rate. FB and breaking stuff grade out as below average, but the changeup looks like a plus pitch and he only throws it 11%.

Does Priester have enough service time over the past couple years to equal a full year? Based on what I'm seeing even though Yorke is yet to debut they may have the same 6 years of control.
Trading from a prospect position of strength to one. of weakness, can't hate this at all.
