Does mean pivetta might get traded Maybe? Maybe means he could be moved to the bullpen? Lots of fluid options here.

Yorke also got caught up in the numbers game in Worcester. As a LF, he would be part of a packed outfield rotation and really would be LF only. No chance he’s playing CF or RF. As a 2B, he’s behind Grissom, Hamilton, and Valdez with other middle infielders coming behind him. They traded him at a high-stock point and got a young, controllable starter in return. Can’t hate on this move at all.

With Grissom back and Roman on his way, there was no more room for Nick in Worcester. ;P All joking aside, I wish Nick nothing but the best and it has been fun following his development. Now let's get Prietser into The Lab and do stuff.

I was still a Yorke supporter so bummed to see him dealt but can't hate trading from a position of depth for a position of need. Hopefully preister can reach his ceiling in Boston.

Does Priester have enough service time over the past couple years to equal a full year? Based on what I'm seeing even though Yorke is yet to debut they may have the same 6 years of control. Trading from a prospect position of strength to one. of weakness, can't hate this at all. As best I can tell, he’s somewhere in the range of 135 days of service time. So if he spends the rest of the year at AAA, he’ll still have 6 years of control. Otherwise, he’ll finish this year with 5 years left.

I expected the team to trade from their middle inf depth. It appears that Arias, Cespedes, Campbell and perhaps Zanetello and Romero have by passed Yorke in managements eyes.

You can never have too much pitching, but you can have too many MIFs who are better suited to LF. I hate to give up on Yorke, but rosters are a number game. And Yorke’s number as a MIF was not likely to be called.
Cynical question: when does Bobby get dealt?

Priester is shoving in AAA, I’d wager Bailey and co. can help him adjust to pitching in the bigs and unlock something.

For 2024 Priester becomes our #6 or 7 starter, useful if people hit a wall, which they probably will For 2025 and beyond, he can help us a lot more than a guy with limited D who would have been competing with Grissom, probably Story, Hamilton, and Valdez for innings at 2b, with more 2b lined up lower in the minors. Great to get Yorke hitting and then turn him into an asset in an area of weakness,.

He was #60 on MLB Pipeline's top 100 prospects last year. The write up: Seems like the Houck/Criswell mold where they’re going to refine his pitch shapes. We need pitching help so exchanging a bat for an arm makes all the sense in the world even if it doesn’t work out. Grissom and Yorke were redundant and you could argue Meidroth is a better fit for us defensively

Great deal. Now they have 3 young guys to build around in Houck Bello who’s turned it around recently and Priester who I trust Bailey will get on track

I'm officially marking the Nick Yorke draft pick as a dub

Might be a weird take and no this isn’t a scouting similarity just numbers
His velo, ground ball rates, k rates so far in the MLB are very Masterson like

Does mean pivetta might get traded I don’t think this should have anything to do with Pivetta. I think they should trade him but that’s just me. Even if you deal him, you should be looking at another starter.

Seems like a win win trade. Hopefully we can make another similar trade to provide some depth options at the upper levels.

Approve. Even swap of former 1st rounders with control and promise.

Interesting. Trading from a position of depth for a pitcher who was recently a top 100 prospect seems like a good bit of business. Priester has an xFIP of 4.07, so there's a chance he can provide some decent innings this year before even factoring in future value.
