Twins trending towards another loss. 6-2 cubs in the 8th. Twins with 3 more outs in the 9th.

Extremely creative lineup today w/ Masa in the 7 hole.

Extremely creative lineup today w/ Masa in the 7 hole. Love the two righties + Devers, two righties + Yoshida pockets. They can bring in a righty for the pocket and count on two of the at bats being Devers/Yoshida and Dom in a leverage spot, or they can run through the four lefty relievers in the pen and keep feeding Ref et all.

I don’t understand the logic of optioning a guy with a 2.77 ERA / 2.98 FIP in 39 IP this season

Not surprising Pivetta getting a skipped start - his velo was like 91-92 mph last time out. Wonder if they’ll stagger skipped starts for Houck and Crawford over the next few weeks ahead of the final push

I don’t understand the logic of optioning a guy with a 2.77 ERA / 2.98 FIP in 39 IP this season I can only imagine it's because he's been throwing a ton lately and they'd rather keep up guys who are fresh. Booser is definitely good enough to stay on the big club; I trust him over guys like Winckowski or our new friend Garcia. I don't think he'll be down for too long.
Meanwhile I was surprised at first that they called up Valdez... I guess there's just no other option?

Re: Valdez I would have thought they would have just accelerated Grissom return to replace ONeils RHB

Re: Valdez I would have thought they would have just accelerated Grissom return to replace ONeils RHB Maybe they think he's not ready and they'd rather get him the extra couple days in AAA? I'm with you though, I would have expected him over Valdez given it's O'Neill getting IL'd.

Cleveland has lost five straight. That's another fake AL Central team we are better than

It would be nice if they can start playing like this at home over the final 8 weeks. Building off the above, the top three away teams in baseball are in the AL East.

Yeah Booser isnt going anywhere, him and Bernie are the two headed monster we have from the leftside. Neither is really a Loogy, but we need both to have that option. Gotta keep Criswell up for a long arm. Booser has really been the only reliable arm in the last month. Bernie has shown some life his past 2 appearances. It’s probably Winck who goes for now. I would be fine if the Red Sox send down Winck. His WHIP has always been too high. He simply puts a lot of runners on base.

Is our “challenge” guy the same Michael Brenly that played in Portland in the mid 2010’s?

Not right this minute, but I really appreciate the talent that is Bobby Witt Jr. Gonna be fun to watch him march to the hall of fame as I get old.
