In a perfect world it's irrelevant and grissom when he joins the sox again will stick but I believe he is down to one option remaining now.

Field coming back to us - Balt, MFY losing big. I’m not on Cora’s level when it comes to expectations for winning the division, but it is kinda amazing to be 3 games out of the loss column of Baltimore. (They and the Yankees have played like 3-4 extra games than us or thereabout)

Not if they keep pitching the way they've been pitching.

Looking at the biggest impact games in our remaining schedule (20 to circle)
6 against Houston 7 against Baltimore 3 against Minnesota 4 against MFY
relatively tough games perhaps
3 against Arizona 3 against Mets 6 against Tampa
should be Gimme games
3 against Texas 7 against Toronto 3 against White Sox 3 against Detroit

Yankees starting rotation ERA since June 1st:
Marcus Stroman, 6.32 Carlos Rodón, 5.83 Nestor Cortes, 5.68 Gerrit Cole, 5.09 Luis Gil, 4.31
Fastforward to the Yankees-Sox wild card series in two months in which a grizzled James Paxton flowing with pure Canada is the best starting pitcher on both teams

Pretty fun that we have 7 left against Baltimore and 4 left against NYY when we're only 4 games back of both in the loss column. A convincing record in those games and we could make things very interesting. Per Tankathon, the winning percentage of remaining opponents for the Sox is .505. It's a pretty average schedule on the whole - just gotta play some good baseball.

Someone please put this into chatgpt or something. You have to create an account to use basically any AI image generator, but the prose is almost as good:
"...Picture this: James Paxton stands on a baseball mound, his stance strong and commanding. His face is lined with experience, sporting a grizzled beard and intense eyes that reflect years of hard work. He's dressed in his baseball gear, but the uniform seems almost infused with elements of Canadian imagery.
In the background, imagine the stunning Canadian landscape: snow-capped mountains, vast pine forests, and maybe even the Northern Lights casting a surreal glow. His pitching arm seems to blend seamlessly with this natural backdrop, almost as if it's channeling the raw power of the Canadian wilderness..."

Sigh. Sonnet's output is depressingly better than anything I could come up with on my own:
A grizzled James Paxton flowing with pure Canada, His weathered arm a maple branch, strong and free. The mound his Rockies, the diamond his tundra, Each pitch a raging rapid, wild as the northern sea.
Eyes like glaciers, focused and unyielding, Hair wild as Yukon brush, touched by winter's frost. From his fingers, a blizzard of fastballs dealing, Each throw a legacy of summers long since lost.
The stadium his great white north, vast and daunting, Where moose and bear would fear to tread. His roar a loon call, haunting yet enchanting, Echoing tales of victories long unsaid.
With every wind-up, he paints in red and white, A masterpiece of grit, as Canadian as they come. In pinstripes or navy, he stands a northern light, His spirit untamed, a force that leaves batters numb.
From Pacific shores to Atlantic's misty coast, He carries the weight of a nation's sporting dreams. A titan on the mound, yet humble as prairie toast, Paxton embodies more than at first he seems.
For in his veins runs sap of the great maple tree, And in his heart, the courage of the true north strong. A grizzled warrior, yes, but forever wild and free, James Paxton, where diamond dust and stardust belong.
