Just got to tune in, and I am not surprised in the slightest that Houck managed to walk Guillorme (.590 OPS) on 5 pitches with a four-run lead and then he came around to score.
Please win this game.

Two on, no outs - Casas pops up, Raffy GIDP. Ouch.

i really only watch boston games so idk if every team runs into this type of issue but man do we leave a ton of runners on. at first i assumed it was a talent issue - our 6-9 hitters up with 2 outs and runners on, the pitcher bears down and it requires another level of hitting talent to capitalize etc.
but it's been happening to 1-9 a lot the past few weeks - is it a talent thing? mental? approach? or is it recency bias and im mistaken?

Well I can tell you the team playing against us don’t have that problem. Every walk burns us

I think that to my eye, we have hitters that don't change their approach well - don't shorten up, try to go oppo. We get a lot of Ks, rollovers, and pop ups - It has been season long (but worse since the AS break) - but was also an issue the last few years. Just to name a few teams - KC and today's opponent - they do a much better job.

Edit: .130 xBA single, then walk the catcher with like 40 career PA, then a 328' home run gone only in Fenway. Not even Houston.

What we have here is yet another microcosm game - walking people, ineffective starting pitching, bad baserunning, bad fielding decisions, poor clutch hitting.
It is all here, folks. It is an "every problem showing itself" game - except we haven't had the pen blow up yet. But it's early.

6-5 would have been more manageable.

Question, Red Sox fan friends - would you rather they just collapse so don't have dashed expectations for more weeks - or keep playing this "maybe they make it, maybe they don't" game for the coming weeks?

This felt so inevitable. I think if they lose this game theyll just be playing out the string.
I dont care how good Houstom and Arizina are supposed to be. Getting swept two straight weekends in their own home ballpark is embarrassing and unacceptable just like missing the playoffs five seasons out of six.

Should have sold at the deadline. Treading water is so infuriating. This team would have been better if we sold last year and next year is would have been better if we sold this year.

4 walks and 2 strikeouts in 6 innings for Houck, it's not good enough.

But the way they are losing it’s terrible. This whole weekend our pitching walked ourselves into trouble

When does Tyler O’Neil get hits? I’m not sure I’ve seen one for a few weeks
