They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

The long anticipated "Hail Mary" begins. Sadly, we need the Orioles to have our backs or no outcome really matters. The thread were are hanging on to is quite thin. Kind of surprising that Fitts gets the start over Criswell who just can't seem to get Cora's respect despite his results.

I think they're waiting for this series to finish before raising the white flag.

Literally need a sweep.
Crazy thing is, if they do, they'd have the following tiebreakers
2-way ties: KCR, MIN, SEA 3-way ties: DET/KC, DET/MIN, KC/MIN, KC/SEA, MIN/SEA
And they'd be second in the following if it's for 2 WC spots:
3-way: the above plus DET/SEA 4-way: DET/KC/MIN, DET/KC/SEA, KC/MIN/SEA
Only ones they lose are DET straight up, DET/SEA 3-way, and they're 3rd in a DET/MIN/SEA 4-way.
They're 3rd in the 5-way.

Not that I think the Hail Mary will happen, but Baltimore winning like 8 of 9 (vs Tigers, Yankees, Twins) would have the nice effect of making a miracle possible, but at worst give the Orioles the chance to take the division

It's head-to-head against the other teams in the tie. So you add the record against the 2 other teams. Here's what the records look like if the Red Sox sweep: (read it left-to-right, so the Red Sox went 3-4 against Detroit, 4-2 against KC, etc.) BOS DET KCR MIN SEA BOS 3-4 4-2 4-2 4-3 DET 4-3 6-7 6-7 5-1 KCR 2-4 7-6 6-7 3-3 MIN 2-4 7-6 7-6 5-2 SEA 3-4 1-5 3-3 2-5 And here's how the tiebreakers would work for them: Boston: DET lose KCR win MIN win SEA win DET/KC 1st 7-6 DET: 10-10 KCR: 9-10 DET/MIN 1st 7-6 DET: 10-10 MIN: 9-10 DET/SEA 2nd 7-7 DET: 10-4 SEA: 4-9 KCR/MIN 1st 8-4 KCR: 8-11 MIN: 9-10 KCR/SEA 1st 8-5 KCR: 5-7 SEA: 6-7 MIN/SEA 1st 8-5 MIN: 7-6 SEA: 5-9 DET/KC/MIN 2nd 8-8 DET: 16-17 KCR: 15-17 MIN: 16-13 DET/KC/SEA 2nd 11-9 DET: 15-11 KCR: 12-13 SEA: 7-12 DET/MIN/SEA 3rd 8-9 DET: 15-11 MIN: 14-9 SEA: 6-14 KC/MIN/SEA 2nd 9-7 KCR: 11-14 MIN: 14-9 SEA: 8-12 FIVE-WAY 3rd 12-11 DET: 21-18 KCR: 18-20 MIN: 21-15 SEA: 9-17 this was all done by hand so check my math.

Game 163 seems a lot more fun than using math
Also I have no idea why in my head I thought we had gone 6-7 against the Tigers - a good 13 games lol

Regardless of how it turns out, this TON at bat is one of the better of the year from him.
Edit: The K is probably on me. Sorry. Still a solid AB.

So far, he's done nothing to suggest he can't be our #5 next year. I'm at least a little surprised, and a lot pleased.

I'm a little worried about how little swing-and-miss is in his game, so I'm not convinced this honeymoon will last forever, but I really would like to see him succeed. I miss pitchers who throw strikes and can manufacture outs.

Oooo. Live, I was sure he was out. He missed him, me thinks. Of course, New York is likely to hose us...
Aaaand Raffy renders the outcome irrelevant.
