The needed playoff math is something like: Sox 4-0 (84) Royals 1-4 (84) Twins 2-3 (83) Mariners 2-2(83) The bottom two are very realistic, and the Sox are playing well enough that you could very much imagine running the table. But Royals have tons of margin of error on their end. If Sox win finale vs TOR and Royals drop one to Nats, at least the final series of the year means something, even if it’s the unlikeliest of circumstances In 1978 the Red Sox won their last 8 games to make it into a one game playoff with ... somebody. I forget what happened after that. (Actually I still have a scar on one knuckle of my right hand from the end of throat playoff game, which scarred me me physically and emotionally) |

I'm here quietly hoping that Shuggart has a very long career, and as he's still playing in his mid-40s they start referring to him as one of the Great Old Ones.

I'm here quietly hoping that Shuggart has a very long career, and as he's still playing in his mid-40s they start remembering that in his rookie season, he spelled his name "S-h-u-g-a-r-t".

Bello got to 2 WAR. That makes you a solid #3 starter in 2024.
His impossibly high HR/FB rate in the first half turned into an unsustainably good one in the second half, and that was pretty much the difference between his bad first half and his good second half.

Definitely feels like bello has another level he should be able to reach but even if he has a bunch more seasons like this one and never gets to the next level I feel good about the extension. |

The Blue Jays network puts its each hitters OPS+ on the screen. Grissom entered that PA with a 1. That's the first time I've seen that. I thought this was a joke, but no looking at baseball reference 1 is correct x.x Since he's come up it hasn't got any better... man am I leaning more towards Campbell making it out of camp. 1900% improvement in one game! |

Considering verdugo is at .5 fWAR and also his perceived iffy attitude and fitts showing lots of promise in his audition this year I'm prematurely going to declare that trade a solid W for breslow. Also just checked and fitts is at .4 fWAR so there's that too. Could end up being a complete fleecing.

Swear to Gawd, if I am watching the boys, nothing good has happened for weeks. I haven't watched any of the last 4 games, except last night, before they came back to win it. I feel like the heavy.
