Today’s starters Luis Gil and Gavin Williams both haven’t pitched since like late September. Both bullpens are coming off extra innings and just high, intense usage in general, with another game tomorrow. Cleveland’s original Game 1 starter Alex Cobb was removed from the roster with a back strain, while Game 2 starter Bibbee only threw 39 pitches three days ago before being pulled early. The Yankees have Marcus Stroman in reserve as a break-in-case of emergency guy, but really wonder how you navigate things if you’re Cleveland and Williams looks shaky early If the Guardians are comfortable going to Bibee for Game 5 then Ben Lively is pretty clearly the bulk guy tonight (and he's arguably equivalent to Stroman, given the situation). If not, and they need Lively to start tomorrow, then yeah I agree it's pretty dicey if Williams can't get them some innings. If I'm Cleveland if I win tonight I'm happy going with Lively tomorrow and taking my chances winning in New York. But if they lose tonight Bibee on 3 days rest feels like the go-to down 3-1... except when encountered with a similar option against the Yankees two years ago with Bieber (lots of bibs' here) they passed on it - www.mlb.com/news/shane-bieber-available-in-relief-for-alds-game-5.

I don't follow the logic. If they go down 3-1 they need to win three in a row, so might as well wait to use Bibee when he's fully rested, no?

My thinking being Bibbee on 3 days rest > Lively in general, and Game 6 comes after an offday to reset your bullpen, and Game 7 you just do Boyd + whoever still has their arm attached. It’s.. not ideal!

Though maybe I'd consider bringing him in from the bullpen in game 5 if things looked desperate.

Dave Roberts really shouldn't have punted this game with Flaherty struggling just because they have a bullpen game tomorrow. It's not like the Mets were gonna shut down the Dodgers bats, and now it looks like the Dodgers would be right in this game if he'd been proactive.

I am absolutely loving this watch party on YouTube for Yankees/Guardians with Brent Rooker, Vinnie Pasquantino, Tarik Skubal, Cameron Maybin and more.

I haven’t seen a game tying homer from Cleveland vs the Yankees in the playoffs so clutch since Pedro Cerrano - what an absolute pimp job F you Jobu! I do it myself

Naylor's approach is like if Rafaela were a lefty and 350 pounds heavier.

Throwing Stanton only fastballs in that at bat was a decision.

This game is not doing much to refute my “Yankees catchers have good framing numbers because of biased umpiring” conspiracy

It’s Bibbe vs Rodon tomorrow. If Guards get past that it’s Gerrit Cole at Yankee Stadium vs… a bullpen game? Ben Lively? Corey Kluber out of retirement? Yikes
Their bullpen is gassed - unless they absolutely blow the doors off Rodon feels tough to think they can hold a lead tomorrow

The Guardians bullpen is completely gassed, they have no starting pitching, and you can never trust Clase in a postseason game ever again.

all these pitching changes and, yet, the offense still scores many runs. I was told this was the new way to hold the offense at bay. Guess they were wrong. what an abomination playoff pitching has turned into.
The Guardians are a fake Championship Series team. The playoffs are too watered down. This could not be playing out worse. Looks like we are gonna need some major NL help to avoid catastrophe.

I’m sure no one here is happy about the Yankees winning but this seems like a pretty extreme overreaction lol

The Guardians missed their chance and the Yankees bounced back from a devastating loss and what could have been 2 losses like that.
Truth of the matter is at this point even with a late lead can the Guardians trust the best closer in baseball? He failed them miserably and has been bad most of the postseason. They badly needed a shutdown inning or 2 from him and instead he gave it up, likely gave up their season. Hard to see the Guardians winning 3 in a row. I think they're done.
I felt the Dodgers and Mets would go 7. I think the Dodgers will win, but the Mets will push them.

Clase gave up 5 ER in the regular season in 74 innings. He's given up 8 in the postseason in 7 innings.

And maybe the teams just don't have the starting pitching to begin with, but sending 7 or 9 guys out there just seems like a bad strategy. Furthermore, that is kind of the way teams do it, and I don't know if they are getting the benefit they think. Perhaps guys should to throw the fastball with better efficiency ? just a thought.
