If Soto signs with MFY in the offseason my guess is this won’t be the last time you see them vs the Dodgers in the World Series. I wish there was an option to have neither team win but you have to hope the dodgers win. I understand both teams got lucky with injuries but they both have superstars, something that the Sox need to achieve over the next couple of years. Who knows, Roman Anthony might be the Sox version of Juan Soto in 2028. I must repeat, please look at the Dodgers pitching injuries and trying to make a serious case that they got lucky with injuries.

One benefit of this World Series matchup (which totally sucks), we get to be enthusiastic Mookie, Kiké, and Brasier fans once again. Rooting for Mookie and Kiké together will be fun and maybe Brasier strikes out Torres and tells him to sit down to help us relive 2018. And seeing Ohtani win a World Series would be nice too at the expense of the MFY

I'm not finding it difficult to root for the Dodgers. Their ownership is willing to spend top dollar for top rate players and have been the best team in baseball the past decade, playing well over .600 ball cumulatively - at the rate they're going they'll pass the Giants for the best all-time cumulative winning percentage in NL history as the Dodgers have narrowed the gap to just .003, with the Giants down to .535 and the Dodgers up to .532. I wish Red Sox ownership was doing what the Dodgers are doing. I mean, the Dodgers had a gazillion injuries to their staff, but instead of excuses as to why they're hovering around .500, the team still played .600 ball, the best in baseball, in what has been a down year for them in context of the past decade.
But as the Yankees themselves know you can average 92 wins per year, playing about .570 ball every year and even if you're better than that, with the many rounds of postseason it's harder to be the one standing at the end. Doesn't mean you don't try every year and that's what the Dodgers have been doing.
My feeling is that the Yankees will win in 6 games. I think the bullpen games effects will show up more in the Series for the Dodgers pitching. I don't know why the Dodgers just don't bite the bullet and start Knack for 3 to 4 or even 5 innings if he does well enough instead of pitching 7 guys to get through 9 innings. I also think if Vesia is out, that hurts the Dodgers' ability to get out Soto.
I think the Yankees' pitching is more intact at this point than the Dodgers. They have more rotation options and their pen hasn't been spent the way the Dodgers' pen has.
Also, with Stanton hot, that gives the Yankees lineup a 3 headed monster that is extremely hard to get through while Freeman's injury makes it tougher for the Dodgers to match that.
I hope I'm wrong and the Dodgers knock off the Yankees, but at this point I'm thinking it's the Yankees who will win. Let the Dodgers prove me wrong - PLEASE!!

Some people are talking about how many great players there are in this World Series. Yes, but not the greatest ever. The 1975 series had numerous HOF players and near HOF players on both sides, and about a half dozen MVPs (Lynn ,Yaz, Rice, Morgan, Bench), several ROY winners, and about a dozen GG winners, along with such record holders as "most HR b y a SS" (at the time), the only Triple crown winner from 1957-2011, and the only man ti have 400 total bases b between 1960 and 1997.

The Dodgers:
- Signed Freddie Freeman for ages 32-37. So far: has nearly earned entire contract in first three years; refuses to go into decline. - Signed Teoscar Hernandez for 1/23. He put up 3.5 WAR. - Had James Paxton for half the season. He gave them 18 starts. The Red Sox had him for the other half of the season; he gave them 3 starts. - Somehow got a career year out of Miguel Rojas at age 35. - Turned Ryan Brasier into some kind of relief ace and have him starting playoff games. - Have gotten 0.9 WAR out of Kiké since last season after the Red Sox got -1.3 WAR in the first half of 2023.
Some of you think that that there is an inherent order to the universe and that all this must have a rational cause, and the Dodgers are just "good" at acquiring talent at the right time. I say the universe has no inherent meaning and they have been ridiculously lucky in all this.
….and perfect weather to play in, and that can not hurt performance as well as health (vs. cold, rainy, slippery conditions). I used to live 3 miles from the ballpark just off the 110 and work downtown LA about four miles past the ballpark. The weather could not be more perfect for baseball and baseball fans (except for the traffic lol).

I hope the week off ahead of the World Series is enough to get Freddie Freeman's sprained ankle right with whatever multi-million dollar cryogenic oxygenated solar-powered laser-beam machine the Dodgers are using to zap his leg

I am rooting for a Magic Johnson team for the first time in my life and I can't tell you how dirty that feels. I'm trying to look at it as I'm rooting for Dave Roberts and the team that brought Jackie Robinson to the ML.
I have to think the extended rest is going to benefit the Dodgers more than the MFYs because it re-sets their BP, which is where they need to get big performances to win the series.
FG has the Dodgers with a 53-percent chance, so basically a coin flip. That sounds about right to me. I'm hopeful and cautiously optimistic.

Dodgers have more than an entire rotation on the IL (including their ace), along with their top pitching prospect that would have replaced one of them if he wasn't also injured

I'll admit I was completely wrong on Aaron Judge. Figured his size would make his swing mechanics a mess, he'd be a terrible fielder, and wouldn't be healthy. Also thought he was a shit personality.
Wrong on all accounts.
Go Dodgers. Make the Yankees suffer. Date their wives during the game. Take their kids to the playground and have a catch with them. Knit sweaters for their parents and call them regularly.

Can't believe I'm saying it, literally the only matchup I'd be saying this for but let's go dodgers.
It's not even that I hate the dodgers but they probably are my 2nd least favorite MLB team behind only the Yankees.

My Most Hated Teams: ANY Yankee Team 1986 Mets Late 80's A's with the BASH Brothers Early 00's Devil Rays (they were all just punks) Any team Manny Machado is on.

Again, I know this is not acceptable and please understand me here, but I like this Yankees team better. Judge, Soto and Stanton is just too awesome of a trio, very metal. The Dodgers are gross and I hope they win nothing but their Mickey Mouse ring after stealing Mookie from us.
Whoever wins this WS will make me deeply dissatisfied.

Dodgers lefty reliever Alex Vesia was saying earlier this week he feels "90%" and should return for the World Series. 66 innings and a 1.76 ERA during the regular season. After you get past the Soto/Judge/Stanton gauntlet the second half of the Yankees lineup is really lefty heavy (Jazz, Rizzo, Wells, Verdugo) so they're gonna need him.

After living in LA during the era of paying $3 a game for season's tickets to watch Nomar, Manny, JD Drew, Derek Lowe, and Bill Mueller, I'm perfectly happy to root for the team I still think of as our little brother wearing our hand-me-downs.

The Red Sox decided to trade him away when he didnt accept a hometown discount I really dont get the Dodgers hate. They have combined top ratee farm systems with huge spending and have won more than 60% of their games over the last dozen seasons. What they havent done a lot of is win championships, but to win championships team are supposed to give themselves as many chances as possible and that's what theyve done. Isnt that what we'd want for the Red Sox instead of worrying if John Henry will make enough profit if he dares to go over the luxury tax line? They did win in 2020 even if people discount it. They were 43-17 over 60 games so I dont think they need to apologize for anything. The got screwed over in the 2017 Series. They were outclassed by our Sox in the 18 Series. They have another shot this year and dont appear to be going away anytime soon. I dont see the arrogance of the 86 Mets and they dont wear pinstripes or have fans that shout Boston sucks or chant 19-18. They come from humble beginnings as Brooklyn struggled for a long time and they became the first franchise to fully integrate. They even played the role of the Red Sox to the Giants who were like the Yankees to them with the Giants doing to them in 1951 and later on again in 1962 what the Yankees did to the Sox in 1978 and 2003. So I guess I simply dont share the hatred for the Dodgers...unless they play the Sox in the Series, which theyve done twice and have been kind enough to lose both times in 5 games. Go Dodgers!!!

People just gravitate towards hating teams that have been consistently successful for a long period of time, and are generally quick with the Dodgers to ignore the player dev track record and just criticize them as winning because they outspend everyone (even though some of those same fans here want the Sox to do the same..). As someone who has never hated the Dodgers and lived in LA for a good chunk of my life, I am pretty clearly pro-Dodgers here as 1. Yankees ew and 2. This Dodgers team is both very likeable and has been able to do some extremely impressive things pitching-wise given everything they've lost. Also while I don't think anyone necessarily "deserves" to win a title, it's always fun seeing the clear best player in the sport reach that mountaintop, and I would like to see Shohei there.

This is why I have little to no appetite in trading any of the big 4, perhaps hardly any of the top 10 either. Look at how the Dodgers have done it, how many top prospects have they really dealt in their run? They have figured the system out so to speak. Keep your top prospects and refill from within to help subsidize those big contracts.

Dodgers get both Vesia and Graterol back (Phillips and Henriquez off), and swap in Rojas for Kiermaier.
Yankees get Cortes back, dropping Berti.

Those two shots by Ohtani and Betts are a hint of what the game may look like. Heavy fog this evening. Should mean a lot of long outs.
