Fox is going for the Jeter mentions in a series record. I think they'll do it.
I don't remember, exactly how many WS championships has his famous Stanton trade netted the Yankees ?

I feel like this would be over if Ohtani wasn’t hurt. The Yanks have a shot if he is done.
I can see the Yankees winning 3 straight but their pen is pretty shaky and something is wrong with Judge so they probably lose at least one.

Fangraphs gives the Yankees their lowest odds of winning the World Series since the playoffs started.

Some thoughts:
1. Unlike last night, this one didn't end with overwhelming jublilation for us MFY haters. It was a relief just to see the LAD get out of the 9th inning jam with the flyball to CF.
2. I thought it was hilarious that the announcers touted Volpe's AB in the 9th as a Jeter moment. Then Volpe flailed haplessly. Maybe he was imitating the Captain Jetes of the '04 ALCS when the icon put up a .200/.333/.233 line. I seem to recall that the MFYs lost that series.😋
3. DR sounded reasonably optimistic in his post-game comments about Ohtani. Fingers crossed.
4. Soto has achieved an MFY level of douchdom, AFAIAC. His antics while he was circling the basis after his HR were drill worthy. Friedman should sign Mr. Martinez to a one-day contract and let him take care of business.
5. We can't ask for more than a 2-0 lead, but I need to see a dead body before I'm comfortable. Buehler pitches game 3 and he had a perfectly crap season of injury and poor performance issues. Game 4 will be a BP game. I'm worried that this series could turn around in a hurry.
6. FG now has the LAD with an 82.8 percent of winning the series. I don't think that includes any of the uncertainy around whether SO will play again.

I thought the same thing about Ohtani, that he's due to go deep, but now I don't know what to expect with him. I think the Yankees will take 2 of 3 or maybe all 3 at Yankee Stadium. I feel good about Yamamoto going Game 6 in LA. Treinen hasn't looked good the past couple of nights, which could be concerning with a late inning lead at Yankee Stadium. Just glad Volpe put up such a poor AB against him and that Roberts yanked him right afterward. Just glad the Dodgers took that one. They need to find a way to sneak away with a win in NY and take their chances in LA, particularly with the Game 6 matchup in their favor.

I like Walker Buehler in Game 3, he doesn't seem to shy away from the big moment. Also has had 12 days of rest since his last start against the Mets in NY.

David Price could never win in the postseason until he did. Mookie is finally starting to hit like we're accustomed to seeing. I think that the stars eventually perform. If Judge does bust out maybe Stanton cools off and the rest of the lineup stays meh.

Reason 269 to appreciate Rob Refsnyder:
Yankees Bench in 2024
Jose Trevino Vs L - .189/.282/.344 Vs R - .235/.292/.361
Oswaldo Cabrera Vs L - .190/.229/.241 Vs R - .268/.320/.409
Trent Grisham Vs L - .211/.268/.342 Vs R - .184/.295/.397
Jasson Dominguez (as a September call-up) Vs L - .111/.304/.111 Vs R - .211/.318/.395
12 plate appearances, 2 hits combined in the postseason by this group. The Dodgers don’t exactly have a robust bench (which will hurt if Ohtani has to miss a game or two), but when the Dodgers send out their lefty relievers for the Yankees’ bottom of the order Boone really doesn’t have a great counter.

Just need the Yankees to win less than 80% of their games now. MFY must win 4/5, they are not the 2004 Red Sox winning 4/4 to finish the Series. Yamamoto looks like he was worth the money…

I don’t think Treinen’s performance was bad last night, he just got incredibly unlucky: He faced 6 batters: Struck out 2, the RBI hit was 2 inches away from being a foul ball, The HBP was a to a notorious plate crowder, he generated swings and misses against every batter he faced, the problem is that those swinging strikes came with less than 2 strikes. A 1.000 BABIP ain’t gonna happen often. I think he’ll be alright next time he’s up.

Hoping Walker Buehler has his game of the season.
Realistically, the Dodgers only need to win one at Yankee Stadium and the Dodgers have 2 shots to win at home to win one game.
I love the chances of that. This is the Yankees last shot of winning a title for a while. Juan Soto isn't resigning. Their farm system stinks. They'll have a black hole in CF (assuming Judge goes back to RF) and 2B/3B (depending where the Yankees stick Jazz in 2025).

Will Middlebrooks talks about the Ohtani injury (with reference to personal experience) on CBS:
Have certainly wondered if the Dodgers are posturing a bit when they say he's ready to go, but I also don't know what benefit they would get from doing that. If the Yankees spend time preparing to face Ohtani in Game 3 only for like Miguel Rojas or whoever getting put in the lineup instead, that is certainly not much of an inconvenience!

Yamamoto looks like he was worth the money… Aaron Judge is sucking: BA - .150, OPS - .605, 19/40 strikeouts for a 47% strikeout rate, WOW. My nephew thinks he is one of the greatest players ever. LOL I would love to see his stats adjusted to show his HR totals to every other ballpark in the MLB.Will Soto make Ohtani money (not adjusted for the time delay)?
Yankee Stadium is one of his better parks, but there are 9 others where he would have hit more homers to this point in his career. (He would have had two 70 HR seasons in Cincinnati, lol.) Of course he's probably maximizing his approach for Yankee Stadium when he plays there and he'd approach it differently in, say, Fenway.

What some people forget, it's possible to remain pretty competitive even with a meh farm system if you're willing to spend. Sox ownership has tricked its fan base into thinking you need these amazing waves of home grown talent to compete. Look at the dodgers, most of their home grown have been hurt/injured (may, Bobby, buehler etc). They have some but freeman, betts to a huge extent, hernandez, yamomoto, ohtahni etc etc were all had because of using their financial resources.
