This is one of the most under-rated things about Tatum and why he’s a winner and great leader. He empowers those around him. This snippet from the Globe. I know this seems like a simple thing, but I don’t think enough guys do it or do it in a way to give confidence to the guys around him.
Peterson connected on 2 of 5 3-pointers. He said that when he entered the game Kristaps Porzingis and Jayson Tatum told him to fire away whenever he was open.
“That’s the thing I’ve learned coming into my second year is, you can’t turn down any open look,” Peterson said. “The guys encourage me. JT told me. ‘[If you] get any open shot, you’d better shoot it.’ So I definitely learned quickly, and I learned last year in my first few games, you’d better not turn any open looks down. So I was just as aggressive as I could be with the touches I got and did whatever I could out there.”
