I'd rather take a Boom-Bust, dream on the power bat guy, then a Senior Sign that is getting drafted just because he'll sign for 1K. This isn't correct logic though. Have to sign some of those senior guys to sign over-slot players -- which you understand.

What a great day!
Can't wait to see Temple's reaction.

Only the top 10 picks are protected. If they don't sign the #12 pick they don't get the 13th next year. This is incorrect. The "protected" picks refers to losing them for signing free agents. Has nothing to do with signing the picks themselves. Would be the first I've heard of the change. Feel like this would have been said on this board many times if it had been changed.

Poor kid. Injuries stink.
Hopefully he can come back soon.

Bummer.
No reason to make a trade at this point, enough spaghetti to throw against the wall.

Ah so the Blake Swihart experiment in LF is fully activated.
I blame templeu.

If tonight's game happens, I'll be flipping back and forth between it and the WCF.

The Patriots have only won once in the last ten years, Brady is suspended, first round pick was stripped and the o line is pretty bad. And theyve been one of the 4 best teams almost every single year the past decade. Name a more successful team the past decade among the 120ish major sports teams. Spurs.

Agree with that. He may become a good hitter, but never a great catcher. His value is as a trade piece. Vazquez makes the team better, Swihart does not. He'll make some other team better. If the right deal comes along, jump on it. What are you basing this on?

I'm not worried. Other burners are still getting their velocity up to normal levels this year.

Start in Pawtucket. I am suspicious about Brian Johnson's health; yesterday's one inning, 3 walk performance suggests that he is not going to be ready for awhile, and the Buchholz injury concerns are not going away. Need someone besides Owens ready to step up, and maybe the relatively pressure-free environment of AAA will allow Kelly to relax and reclaim last year's second half success. His numbers from the All Star break until the end of the Year were decent (11 starts): 3.77 ERA 4.14 FIP 3.90 xFIP 7.54 K/9 2.72 BB/9 .329 BABIP 76.4 LOB% 13.5 HR/FB

Start in Pawtucket. Think he's better than Owens at this point -- and maybe going forward, but I'm higher on Johnson than Kelly. He's worth a lot to the organization as depth, not sure how he fits into the bullpen without being able to strike guys out.

Still find it incredible we talk about older players faltering and David Ortiz wasn't mentioned. What a legendary player.

I'm visiting Boston for the first time in many years, in the middle of May. Besides catching a few games, any other great recommendations you have for me? Restaurants/parks (besides Fenway)/sights/touristy things/etc. I'll be there 4 days, so I will have some time for several things.
Also, would you recommend I rent a car, or Uber everywhere?
Thanks in advance.

If Castillo shows pretty much anything above a league average bat, he's at worst an equal pay guy, who's potential bat upside probably gives him trade value, though I'm not sure why they'd move him if that's what they're getting. His deal is really not bad at all given the current salary structure. The only potential problem I see is if at some point they are starting JBJ and Vazquez, both of them end up with sub league average bats, a non-above average Castillo could render a third of the lineup relatively inept offensively. Despite Vazquez and JBJ's defense, I think there is a point where the defense first guy philosophy turns down, at least that's what my logic says. But if the rest of the lineup hits like they could/should, the offense should be great 1-6, so it might not matter. I don't think they need another bat right now Better chance Castillo is a below average bat than above. His GB% scares me a lot.
