Finally the long national nightmare is over. What to do with Criswell when Whitlock returns, should be interesting. Mom's day here. Probably 2H 2023 Pivetta duty until the next injury.

I think Dom was worth a look, but I am off the Dom train. I feel like Goldschmidt can’t be worth much and I wouldn’t mind taking him on (say half his salary or something) and hoping for a bounce back. The Sox could use some right some righty thump.

The lack of clutch shows up in their run differential and pythag. Their run differential is +30, eighth best in MLB. Their pythag is 22-16, a 93-win pace. Hopefully that points to some mean reversion.

I’m a little confused as to how his hand got jammed and how it has repeatedly happened. Everything about him for the past month has been frustratingly vague

Pretty sure Kristian Campbell’s HR/FB is 50% now. Only 16 players were over 20% last year and all but Ohtani were under 30%.

Nope, you need to be on top 100 lists and he was not Wow that’s crazy arbitrary and if anything you’d think rewarding a team for exceeding all expectations developing talent makes more sense.

Is Brandon Belt being blackballed or something? I understand the red flags with him, but he's obviously a better option than Dominic Smith. Did the team have any interest in him after Casas went down? Would he just not have signed on for a marginal role? I wonder if he just doesn’t want to play. Some teams would have had to have reached out by now

His bat was his calling card but I wonder if he’s even going to be able to catch anymore after this. I remember Wilson Ramos tearing his ACL and he did come back and catch at an older age so it should be possible, but this is a pretty key developmental time for Garcia and I’d expect him to DH a fair amount next year.

Miguel Bleis is now at .233/.324/.367, which is actually good for a 107 wRC+ since nobody is hitting down there. Strikeouts are down, quality of contact is still there. I am still feeling good about him. Agreed, he’s been fine. Salem is miserable to hit in, I wish they would change the height of the outfield walls at minimum. I don’t think Bleis should be rushed by any means, but I can’t wait for him to be in Greenville.

It's very weird that all of the following are true: - Rafaela has a wRC+ of 63, 14th worst in the majors out of 117 qualified hitters - Rafaela has a WPA of -1.19, 6th worst in the majors - Rafaela has a Clutch rating of -0.56, 13th worst in the majors
- Rafaela leads the Red Sox with 20 RBI
A large chunk of those RBI came in the blowout win, which would not have affected his clutch or WPA numbers. And the fact that he leads in RBI is more of an indictment of the heart of the order and their struggles with RISP

Wetherholt definitely seems like a too good to be true scenario, I do have a hard time seeing him fall to 12. Stranger things have happened, I'd have said the same about Teel last year and Mayer a few years ago so we'll see. He definitely sounds like a guy I'd love to add to the farm even if another LHH isn't exactly a need for this organization at this time. Yeah I’m not going to let myself think that he’s going to fall, but that would be like Mayer all over again. He’s like a lefty Bregman. I don’t see that many HS players being drafted before the Sox pick like this mock suggests, but it would be a dream. Yesavage would still be a win in my book too so it was nice to see him make it that far as well. Griffin getting a (loose) Tatis comp is pretty exciting too. I have been assuming Boston will draft a college player, but his ceiling would be fun for sure.

Campbell is lower than I would have thought. The list was probably formed a week+ ago so in that case it wouldn’t be surprising. Plus, Campbell is a 3 year college player with a 30% K rate in A+ ball. I don’t know that we’ll find out much about him until he is in Portland and I would really hope his ability to make contact starts showing in Greenville before then. Toolsy types like him are fun to track though

I really want Zanatello to be good because it seems like if he is good it'll be in the most fun way add: and he has a fun name I haven't been this excited about a prospect's name since Xander Bogaerts. No pressure. Zanetello, Roman, Marcelo, and Rafaela sound like they could be the new ninja turtles
