Papi going yard against the lefty is a good sign. Estrada is a righty.

Cherington needs to tell Farrell he is wrong about things and keep Swihart up. The kid is adjusting nicely, and Hannigan caught Buchholz earlier in the year, with some success.

Mookie's swing reminds me of Andrew McCutchen when he first came up. Lightning quick wrists.

Ortiz and Sandoval's at bats... yuck. Napoli was expected. Yay Xander!

Saw Owens pitch earlier this year, and didn't get around to posting about it. It was an outing where he threw only a few changeups, but it is a serious out pitch. The curveball was looooong and even I could see it out of the hand. Not sure how many sliders he threw (if any) but it seemed to me that he needed one more pitch that he has confidence in to truly be able to put it in cruise control. A solid cutter might even lead him to more success. Just my amateur scouting eye. I really love these threads and comments, makes me asmarter fan.

I was at the game tonight, and the collective "WTF" when Hanley got hit while running was almost comical. At the time I was waiting for Sandoval to invent a new way of getting out just because it seemed like the logical next thing to have happen.

I think I would rather have Allen Craig than Napoli now. He looks attrocious. I know its beating a dead horse, but Allen Craig couldn't be worse than this could he?

Chavis has been hitting the ball better lately. Has anyone seen him recently? Is he making the adjustments needed? He seems to have some pop when he isn't striking out.

Moncada... I give the benefit of doubt, and have patience. But with the big league club so frustrating I want to be able to shove you down the throat of yankees fans. So please start raking like I know you can.

Also, this thread only went two pages last night when they won, and its up to 9 pages after the loss. People need to stop over analyzing every loss at this point. This team is below average despite what they should be. Accept it, move on. You aren't the GM and it may be frustrating, but you cant change the past. Root for the future.

I think that lineup is last nights. The red sox twitter nor any of the beat writers I follow have tweeted a lineup. It usually is posted around 3

I actually agree with that. He makes his share of mistakes on the basepaths and doesn't seem to catch heat for it. But Hanley and Panda get blamed for just about anything. FOR those of us barely watching, what would have happened if he held at 3rd? and, with that in mind, explain why it was not worth the shot at home. If he held at 3rd he would not have gotten out, but chance for a double play. Tough to say it was the wrong play by Mookie, but the DP would have been tough.

I know we are winning 6-1, but like double plays are our absolute favorite. It is maddening.

If only Ortiz hadn't grounded into that DP.... Hanley needs to keep that middle of the park stroke. I feel like he sells out to pull too much and he loses out on his natural gift of power to all fields.

If Mookie misses time, I'd like to see JBJ get another shot. Me too. Even if Mookie doesn't miss time, JBJ has earned a real shot somewhere soon.

The lone bright spots from tonight is the fact that Bogie, Betts, Swihart all produced (Thank god Betts isn't seriously hurt). I'm afraid of a new executive coming in and trying to move those guys. Those guys (and Pedey) should be the bedrock of the lineup. At this point I hope Ortiz heats up and we can maybe flip him for a decent prospect even though it would be sad to see him leave.

Everyone's frustration is coming from the fact that these players (veterans) have track records of being above average hitters and they have been a collective dumpster fire when there have been (repeatedly) chances to drive in runs. They were 0-9? tonight with RISP. It just seems like they all lose their approach and ability to hit with men in scoring position.

Good for Pat Light. Hopefully he keeps dominating at AAA and we may well have another power arm in our pen by the end of the year.

Benintendi isn't in your ideal lineups? Bust city
In all seriousness, what do you guys think is up with Mookie? Recently, he hasn't been making much if any hard contact. Pitchers are pitching him away and now it looks (to my non-scouting eye) that even when they come into his wheelhouse he is missing it.

Benintendi had very similar pre-draft rankings to.............TREY BALL. I would hope so considering they both went #7 lol
