I still think it's important to clarify that the plummeting didn't start until the Bear Claw game. 13-12 post-deadline and pre-Bear Claw, 6-16 since. Only the LA Angels are worse. More like Monkey Paw game, we got Bloom fired at long last but the team is now cursed. |

Yikes. This whole story is so crazy and sad. This is why I think football will die before any other sport. Interest in baseball may be going down faster than the other 3, but my wife doesn't want our potential future children to play football. I personally would brush it aside, but seeing guys like Aaron Hernandez, Junior Seau, and now Sergio Brown. I'm beginning to agree. Maybe Brown is dealing with other mental issues, but even the fact that's my first immediate thought is enough. Note, I'm not putting Seau with the other two. I'm saying the man felt the need to kill himself because he had crippling depression because he felt like he had CTE and wanted people to examine his brain. He was right. Yeah, too much contact on the head. Not sure what they can do about it, be it helmets or rule changes, but it's brutal. |

According to ESPN, Boston is the only city with racist jerks for fans. To be fair to Hill here, he didn't say he was getting racist insults. I like my city to be hostile within reason against the other team. Hopefully they were asking about that time he beat the living sh*t out of his pregnant girlfriend. |

I acknowledge all that in my original post, but good quarterbacks really ought to be able to elevate the players around them, and I don't see a whole lot of that from Mac. It's not a big problem if he's a league-average quarterback (can't really expect much more from him than that), but he is increasingly looking like just a league-average quarterback. So he has no time to throw, nobody that can get open to throw to, he's playing on a different offense for the THIRD TIME in a row to start his career, and yet he's supposed to elevate people like Pop Douglas? You can't tell me Mac is worse than Sam Howell, Desmond Ridder or Brock Purdy, guys who are around his age. Those guys run good offenses because they actually have weapons and don't have to play with the (kind of) worst OL in the league. I think Mac is a good QB. He's not an elite QB, but he's well within the good range. He's not the problem. |

Their offensive personnel is just not very good. One of the worst OLs in the league, mediocre skill position players and a QB who needs a strong system around him to thrive (struggles under pressure and more of a dink-and-dunk guy who struggles to consistently get chunk yardage). Not sure I agree with that assessment on Mac. His receivers are mega sh*t, the OL is a joke and he's in the third OC in 3 years. And he still looks decent. Any QB would struggle under that much pressure and who on this roster can get chunk yardage? His career has been mismanaged to hell. |

Great news, Bloom didn't do the job of fielding a truly competitive team and didn't show much to demonstrate he could. The talent level on the roster is VERY pedestrian. Some good building blocks in place and no need to rebuild, so the next GM should do better.

Don, you have brought up cursed franchises, where do you rank the Jets on the all-time cursed franchise list? Gotta be at least top 3 right? Best chance at a Super Bowl contender since the first few Rex Ryan years and the franchise savior goes down on the FOURTH play of the season. I hate the Jets almost as much as any other team, but this is just plain cruel The Jets drafted Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson 3 years apart in the Top 3. I don't think that's a cursed franchise, that's a poorly ran franchise. I think the Chargers is a perfect example of a cursed franchise, they always seem to have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and nothing to show for it. Moving out of San Diego didn't help in the curse department. |

Scary stuff. I hope KPJ never plays in the league again and instead go to jail for a very long time. What a gigantic waste of talent. That being said, the league needs to do better with cases like this. Miles Bridges should not be playing the sport either.

I thought Mac looked good today and I still think he needs a high end top target to really get him there. I know this isn't a very popular opinion here, but I think the receivers are mostly mid and Mac needs a true go to guy.

Pats are only 4 point underdogs. I thought it would be more like 10. Las Vegas knows something I don't. Maybe they believe our Defense is really good and our rookie stars will make a surprising difference. With Brady in attendance, maybe he will inspire the team. Anyway, if we manage to actually beat Philly, this will be a fun season. If we get crushed, not so much. This is Matt Patricia’s legacy. |

It’s incredible he gets paid to write at a middle school level The point that they are bad at the trop is definitely a fair one to make though. I think all of us here would’ve done a better job making it. We would probably use real stats, we would have possibly even formatted the sentence correctly Oh I missed the typo, my brain read it as 2020 and I thought well that makes sense lol. |

That’s fine but the post I referred to stated that a great defense will shut down a great offense. I disagree with that in todays NFL I think that a good defensive performance, like you have good players, the occasional elite player here and there and a good gameplan, can shut down 31 teams in any given game. There's no shutting down Mahomes though, but that's because he's probably the best passer ever. The problem with today's NFL is that it's hard for a defense to be UNIVERSALLY GOOD, there's always going to be a struggle when the matchups are poor. Still, I think a great defense can shut down a great offense outside of Kansas City. |
