What can the Umps actually do if the pitching coach refuses to come off the mound? It's not like ejecting the pitching coach from the game is going to save any time...

That was an incredibly slow trot to 2nd base. Come on Papi, this is a one-run game... Like Babe Ruth , the old fat guy jogs on the early 2b so he can be around later to hit the 3 run bomb. I hope he never runs full out again.

Well, at least one part of the equation seems to be getting better, Big Papi is finding his groove.

That egotistical, self-promotional hack. Who does he think he is? The greatest human of all time? Well he is.

Hm... did you see how Herrera immediately flipped the ball out of his glove into his hand on that final out? Reminds me of football players dropping the ball just as they are crossing the line into the endzone.

Is JBJ pushing Pedroia for the smartest player on the team yet? Yeah, I am aware of Breslow's background. It's a joke. JBJ keeps making great decisions. Playing winning baseball. Not sure when this was posted, but Bradley did not judge that ball off AJs bat well then screwed up again after it landed. He needs to be on third base.

Bradley has to be risk-adverse on that play. Sure, getting to third is nice, but you can't afford to get doubled off first if the second baseman catches that ball or be the first out at third if he doesn't catch it but manages a strong throw to third.

The guy got on base 3 more times today. You could make a strong case that he has been our best position player 3 games in a row. It was his job to get on base in that last at bat and he made great decisions getting that done, when most other players, let alone rookie types, would have swung away on the 3-1 count.
I thought he had a good chance on making it to 3rd also but there were no outs and the meat of the order was coming up. He had to be a little careful.

With no outs you can't get doubled up at first or make the first out at third. I think he played it right. I'm one that's not sold on JBJ as a hitter yet ,but he has been playing great.

Sure, getting to third is nice, but you can't afford to get doubled off first if the second baseman catches that ball or be the first out at third if he doesn't catch it but manages a strong throw to third. He was standing on second when the ball dropped so if Murphy catches that, he's probably doubled up anyways. Even so the ball wasn't close to Murphy so even once it was obvious Murphy wasn't going to make the catch, he would have gone to 3B easily. J said after the game that he would have gone to 3B if the game was tied. I think with more experience, he'll go to 3B on a play like that.

We all need to be rooting extra hard for Jackie so he stays on the team. He is a game changer.
