Looking at the five-year Oliver projections on Fangraphs for the Cubs prospects is amazing. 2018 fWAR for these players: Baez: 6.7 Bryant: 5.3 Russell: 5.4 Soler: 1.3 ( this will probably be like 5.5 after they re-do it after the season he's had) Rizzo: 1.4 Lake: 1.2 Castro: 1.3 Alcantara: 1.6 And Schwarber is hitting better than Bryant did at Hi-A. So wait, are these pre-season projections? Because otherwise how the hell are Rizzo/Castro that low?

What's crazy is that the Sox have nearly as much "projected" talent according to those projections, and they actually have some talent on the pitching side of things.

Just saw this from a week ago. The Spinners won't be making any more road trips to Jamestown, as the Pirates are moving the franchise to a new stadium in Morgantown WV next spring. The Jammers are dead last in NYPL attendance this season, averaging just 751 per game. For comparison, Lowell has brought in 4,346, trailing only Brooklyn's 6,620. And with that, the New York-Penn league (now with teams in five other states besides NY & PA) takes a commanding lead over the Big Ten as the most ridiculously misnamed sports association in North America.

And here's the obligatory follow-up piece on what losing the team means to Jamestown. I had no idea the Jammers were one of the original six NYPL franchises in 1939.

And Lowell's attendance would potentially be higher, but LeLacheur only holds around 5000.

Josh Norris ?@jnorris427 Whoa. Pulaski #Yankees. That would seem to mark the end of the two GCL teams.
I wanted the Red Sox to get in on the Appy League.

Looks like two California League teams may be moving to the Carolina League: www.baseballamerica.com/minors/milb-president-time-move-two-cal-league-teams/Like this a lot - only having 8 teams in the Carolina League limits the competition for Salem, although perhaps the skill of having to adapt to facing a pitcher/hitter you've seen a bunch already may be a benefit to such a small league. That said, they really ought to just abolish the California League.
