Yeah, we can't afford good players. Just bargains. Tickets at Fenway are cheap and hardly any TV money either. Didn't you just say you don't want to be the Yankees? What would be more Yankees than giving a bunch of money and a long term commitment to an aging player? Seriously, I'm confused. They all mean "just this one time". Until the next time like in 2017 when Buchholz wins the Cy Young.

He's a mental midget.

It's just wonderful...the 2nd year out of 3 we will finish in last place. Last year had to have been the mother of all outliers. It's OK though, at least we won't be overpaying for Lester in 2018 or 2019.

I'm tired of the Red Sox pitcher that still difficulty with 1st inning in every game. Toronto thanked the FO for pull out Jon & insert Brandon there. It's probably easy series sweep for them.

I'm beating a dead horse here ("I'm not dead yet!"), but John Farrell + company has no idea how to use the challenge replay system. He uses one on the first base play the other night when it was very obvious that he was wrong but on that ambiguous play at the plate tonight he refuses.

He was safe at home. Not ambiguous at all. Carry on with the Farrell bitching. It's all his fault.

Steven Wright should really be starting instead of Workman. Workman to the pen - I like him as an 8th inning guy better.

With our kiddy corps of starters, they aren't going to go deep into games at all. Will be lucky to get 6 innings out of them. We're going to need 2-3 guys who can pitch multiple innings. I think Workman would be ideal in that role.

Greg: I don't disagree with you that he was safe and perhaps I worded the previous comment poorly. All I'm saying is that I'd like to see more consistency on the decisions to challenge plays. I will say that the structure of the replay system itself makes consistency difficult.
Also, our cellar-dwelling position in the standings has little to do with Farrell. I don't see how pointing out his flaws means that it is all his fault. I'm not trying to be a hate-monger; I just think that it is time that we admit that he is shaky on a few aspects of efficiently managing a team. He did extremely well last year (and even that would be an understatement), but that does not mean his actions are always unquestionably defensible, especially as we find ourselves dissatisfied with the results.

Farrell gets advice from the replay guy. He can't see anything from the dugout. Blame the video guy.

Fair. That's why I originally said Farrell + company.
I hope they show Lester on the video board tonight. He deserves one last round of applause before his possible sendoff. It would be kind of awkward for him, especially if he ends up staying, but I think it would be worth it and he would certainly appreciate it.
Workman has also bounced back nicely after a rocky start. I still think he's a RP in 2015.

I still think he's a RP in 2015. I think that's his best role. But, Guidas has mentioned this. I think we'll get Cliff Lee on the cheap. We'll have him and Buchholz. Gonna need three. Could be Rubby, Webster and Workman. Ranaudo pushing them. Eric will kill me if I don't mention Wright too Would still have 3 more options in AAA; Barnes, Johnson and Owens. Plus, the kid we just got from SF.

Meanwhile, I don't know how Xander is supposed to play SS when he can't field and throw from 3rd. Your best infielder plays SS. He ain't anywhere near that.

Please fired all FO & coaches for awful season. The team cannot play sound baseball. No pitching, no hitting & no defense in most games they lost. It's unwatchable team for me. Can't wait for Pats football season soon.

Every day and moment that goes lately shows how this team has fallen apart, especially their pitching prospects. Do you really believe they can pull it together for 2015?

We don't need to pull it all together immediately for 2015. Stockpiling assets and clearing cap room is a hell of a start for the rebuild this team needs. We still have a lot of great pieces to build around and money.

Guys the Red Sox are going to lose lots of games in the next two months. Let's not make a scene about it.

When are people going to call them out for it?

That's just not the case..Pedroia has been our best infielder of years and he doesn't play short. They moved him and risked his confidence and learning curve. Guess what? It backfired.
