Their is no reason why we don't win 3/4,we have been playing better as of late. I am anxious to see how Cespedes performs in this 11 game homestand. I think Cespedes will hit a couple over the Green Monster. GO RED SOX!

"been playing better as of late. " -----------------------------------
I seriously doubt the nyy will be in it going to the last weekend at Fenway but RS may have to tank that series! Goal should be 72- wins (18/25rec).
They'll probably lose big to a few contending teams during the first 3 weeks in Sept. Though, it could be problematic if the pitching is good and Napoli, Cespedes, keep hiting timely Hr's.

We really didn't have much business winning 4 out of 5 games.

When watching any individual game I just can't bring myself to wish for a loss. I'm easier to live with for the wife & dogs when they win.
This is the first time in quite a while I've actually thought they were going to win before the games. Let's see how that works.

I can't wish for a loss anytime. I think losing can become a habit and with all these young players, I'd rather see winning developing as a habit. I don't really care where the Sox draft, although it would be good to have a protected pick.

Much better for 2015 and beyond if the young guys perform well, than if we get a top 10 draft pick and associated bonuses.

The free agents I want won't cost us a pick anyway. Lester and Miller.

Can't help but think about how good Rubby could be the way Pedro talks about him

Napoli pissed me off but I forgot the Astros are one of the worse records so forget it.

With Webster finishing the fifth inning, he has now hit fifty major league innings (ie, he is no longer rookie eligible after this year).

I try to be positive... but it's a bad sign for WMB when I'm SHOCKED he didn't strike out with the bases loaded/one out.

Cool, Webster outlasts Feldman. Middlebrooks and Bradley with RBI's. It's beggar's day.

This is the kind of game where Webster looked pretty crappy in the box score, but I think it could do a lot for his confidence and development. It seems like when he tries to be too fine is when the control gets blown out of whack.

I think they'll have space to add Ramos, if they think they can remove him later on in the offseason for signings (won't be able to keep him on 40 in May). I'd rather they just risk it with him.
As for Boston, I just keep thinking how much I like Nava and that it sucks he's losing his job for Cespedes. I don't hate Cespedes, but a sub-.300 OBP and inconsistent play just don't do it for me. It shouldn't be either-or, but out of Cespedes-Craig-JBJ-Victorino-Nava (assuming Holt is back to an IF role next year), then Nava is the only tradeable piece, unless some team falls in love with Cespedes (I doubt it).
This is where I get a whole bunch of "we need HR" replies, but I don't care. Nava and Lester are my two favorite Sox, and I'm not losing them both in one year without a fight.

Sox win 9-4!! Great win. Glad to see the bats coming alive! No offense intended, but you seem rather excited about that is well under .500. My original hope, given the way the season had been going, was that the Sox would avoid last place. It's kind of embarrassing to go from first to last. Going from last to first seems a lot more special. So the Sox are basically going to be the first team in history to go from last to Champs back to last again. I would use the term "embarrassing" but it's really not that bad when you think about it. I'll take a championship and two crappy years any day over 3 seasons of 90 wins and no championships. But since the Sox are going to finish last, at this point, for all I care, they can continue to lose. Might as well get a higher draft pick. They could pick as high as fifth without tanking too badly. I mean does it matter whether they go 69-93 or 74-88? At this point, the losses don't bother me much and the wins don't feel that rewarding. At this point what they do in the offseason is more interesting to me than what they're doing on the field right now.

I've made the joke before, but there may be a little bit of truth given the draft/protected picks situation... alternating losing and winning seasons may be the new market inefficiency, especially for a team with money.

I thought it was trading your soon-to-be ace pitcher for a slugger, and then re-signing (I hope) said ace pitcher.

Hell no im not excited about 10 games under 500 at this point. i am just glad they won tonight and have played good baseball the past week. whenever they win, its a great day. i love this team. I was expecting at least 2nd place going into the season. this season has been just as frustration as 2012. Screw the draft pick as i will not root for losses. They could make a run and finish at 500. who knows? It all depends on this home stand.
