Farrell said it was a neighborhood play. Which isn't reviewable. He might have actually had a point but like I said it's not really relevant with the way Kelly is pitching.

What was Farrell arguing about that got him ejected? Gameday doesn't provide details. Umpires overturned a neighborhood play at 2nd, which is supposed to be unreviewable. I'm no fan of the neighborhood play and think it's a farce but if something "unreviewable" then it's unreviewable. These umpires are just clownshoes.

Hoping Dan Butler gets his first career hit today. With Ross coming back shortly, this is Dan's last game to get it!

I never subscribed to that theory either, but I can't blame people for trying to make sense of Xander's dropoff. He ranked 4th in the AL in OBP at the start of June. Sure, he had a high BABIP that we knew would settle back to the mean, but it's more than just statistics. His approach just went to shit after that change inexplicably. I really don't know what to make of Xander, I'm not worried one bit about his long term outlook, but his continued struggles are so odd to me, I don't know what to make of them. ADD: But I'm glad to see the Astros put up 6 runs in the inning. Not that I'm one of the members who's pulling for a high draft pick, rather we may be able to see Stephen Wright pitch. Long live the knuckleball. The league figured out you can get first strikes on him like crazy because he's passive against the plate, and he can't do anything with breaking balls down and away. It happened around the same time he moved to third base but that's just coincidental. Not arguing that. He ranks 27th worst among qualified players in Z-Swing% and 50th worst in Swing%. I don't know where to find such a stat, but I imagine he ranks among the league leaders in 1st pitches taken. Whenever he jumps on a 1st pitch, good things happen.

Thanks Bogaerts. You can play with your head up your ass somewhere in the minors.

He's gotta get more aggressive on those first pitch fastballs. Pitchers get to 0-1 and then it's just slider away, slider away, slider away. You only get three strikes, you can't just give one away in every AB. Still not crazy about sending him to the minors, though. He can probably get away with his current approach against lesser pitching.

I didn't understand not moving Koji before when it was easier. I hope whomever claims him really wants him and isn't just blocking a move.

Thanks Bogaerts. You can play with your head up your ass somewhere in the minors. Try to come up with meaningful criticism, or keep it to yourself, please. Kelly's mechanics are completely messed up. If you watch Butler's glove placement, he doesn't come near it 3 out of four times. Yeah, by comparison Webster's a rock

Honestly it probably has as much to do with the amount of legwork involved in these deals as much as anything else. Cherington said he was up for what, 36 hours before the trade deadline? And I know the response is going to be "well just trade him a week before the deadline then", but for whatever reason, that's not how the trade deadline works.

You might be right but the Koji and Miller trades I would have thought would be the easiest to pull off.

While that's true, it's the bulk of what McHugh throws. He pitches backwards and throws the fastball more as a show me pitch

The langue and expression may not be "nice", but what is wrong with the intent as reasonable criticism, namely his head may not be in the game or he is not quick thinking as demonstrated by his actions. If you have long term hopes for Bogaerts, you may have to think again. Regardless, the Sox need to be thinking about shortstop for next year. Marrero is not exactly showing hitting abilities at AAA, but at least he can field. Bogaerts right now can do neither. Can Holt handle short? Is Hardy a free agent this winter?

He turns 32 in two days, i am sure he will command around 10-13 million dollars per year. I think he will be ideal for Fenway, good hitter and OUTSTANDING fielder, but i wouldn't be comfortable giving him for then 3 years.

Maybe CLE looking for an upgrade over Dickerson, which could happen now that NYY are ahead of CLE in standings. I hope not. We need Nava for RF next year.
and on that other note: And Holt would be our SS for '15, except he probably will be busy at 3B.
