Offense getting some life. Need some hits from the bottom third of the lineup to steal a win tonight. Look I know it's been a tough season but even this team doesn't "steal" wins against Houston. Any time a team is down by three halfway through a game and comes back to win, that is a stolen victory.

Ortiz's down year, isn't very down. An insanely low BABIP drags down his triple slash numbers, but he has been pretty damn good this year.

Does anyone really need to look at Mujica again? It's bad enough I can't unsee most of his performances this year. And I say this as one who thought he was a good pick up in the off season. They'll be eating the remaining $4M on his salary, one way or another. Dude, you seriously need to let this one go. Mujica had a rough start of the season but has been a tremendously valuable reliever lately and his numbers are still inflated by that poor first month or so. Did he kick your dog or something? So if one defines start to the season as, what? April and May? June 4.00 ERA 9.0 IN 2BB 11K .281 AVE Against July 3.41 ERA 10 1/3IN 0BB 5K .341 AVE Against Aug 0.00 ERA 5.0 IN 1BB 2K .318 AVE Against That's better than April and May but I would not ever call that "tremendously valuable" for a reliever. If anything it's the work of a 6th/7th inning guy at best.

The other night when he used mujica for a save situation was only because koji needed a rest and Tawaza has been beat like a dog lately.

Another great come from behind win.
This team is doubly nothing without Big Papi.

Mbks has made it a trio of futility with JBJ and XB in this lineup.
Corey Brown DFA. Somebody will take him.

I can't decide what I find more painful, watching Kelly walk a sub .200 hitter on 4 pitches, the crappy defensive play, or listening to the broadcasters talk about turkey burgers...

It is pretty pitiful that you cannot time your release on a throw from 2nd on that easy of a play.

Moving to third was so obviously the source of his problems at the plate, I feel like such an idiot for ever doubting that ironclad theory.

Good thing Kelly is so amazing when he gets runners on base

Kelly walking the park, I am concerned with the amount of walks he has surrendered since he has been a Sox. Again, i don't see Kelly apart of the plan. Kelly just gave up a grand slam to Altuwe. Awful

What was Farrell arguing about that got him ejected? Gameday doesn't provide details.

I never subscribed to that theory either, but I can't blame people for trying to make sense of Xander's dropoff. He ranked 4th in the AL in OBP at the start of June. Sure, he had a high BABIP that we knew would settle back to the mean, but it's more than just statistics. His approach just went to shit after that change inexplicably. I really don't know what to make of Xander, I'm not worried one bit about his long term outlook, but his continued struggles are so odd to me, I don't know what to make of them. ADD: But I'm glad to see the Astros put up 6 runs in the inning. Not that I'm one of the members who's pulling for a high draft pick, rather we may be able to see Stephen Wright pitch. Long live the knuckleball.

In my opinion, Kelly throws his fastball way too much. He is way to predictable.

Bogaerts... What was that? I agree this wasn't the neighborhood play.

Orsillo said this game is under protest, i am not surprised since jim joyce is a bum. Sarcasm? By the way, I love the "my pitcher gave up an grand slam because you blew a call" logic. No, your pitcher gave up a grand slam because he's allowed a truckload of baserunners and threw a bad pitch to one of the better hitters in the game.

Farrell said it was a neighborhood play. Which isn't reviewable.

Kellys location has been awful. His fastball has had NO movement whatsoever, And that pitch to Altuwe was right over the middle.

Long live the knuckleball. The league figured out you can get first strikes on him like crazy because he's passive against the plate, and he can't do anything with breaking balls down and away. It happened around the same time he moved to third base but that's just coincidental.
