I'm rooting for a 6-2-3.

Would be nice to pick up a Cueto or an Eduardo Rodriguez mid-season...rotation not looking too hot against a real offense. I'm not too into Cueto anymore. Has too much name value, and we aren't re-signing him if he wants 200M as rumored.

Welp, that escalated quickly.

Miley just could not keep the ball down all day-- lots of elevated breaking balls in particular. Certainly very frustrating.

Thanks Miley for that. This guy was laboring on the mound. Give me a break.

Yeah, the second round through the rotation has a substantially different narrative than the first. Porcello had a good second start but the other three sucked.

Varvaro kinda looks like Quintin Berry and isn't pitching much better than Berry did in that 14th inning for the PawSox.

I would've had a guy warming up as soon as Desmond hit that home run. Farrell didn't do a good job of stopping the bleeding short.
6 run lead should be enough for Gonzalez unless we keep hitting the ball to Taylor.

Let's hope the National's defense continues it's stellar play.

In case you haven't noticed the last two wins owed as much to the errors by Wash as offense. Same could be said for at least 1 game in each of the other two series, too, as the Sox final run counts exceeded the earned runs they generated. It's nice to win 2 out of three but I have to believe the competition the Sox will be facing won't be as bad in the field as the first three teams played so far - especially Wash.

Yea, but I also don't think three of our starters will be carrying 7+ ERA's the entire year. Miley also started May April last year with a 5+ ERA, so he may just be a slow starter.

Fortunetley there's plenty of time to catch up. What's Gio's pitch count looking like?

Alright, looks like the point where hyperbolic statements about our pitching staff are going to come out.

Varvaro top 3 appearances by pitch count in 2014: 40, 30, 23. He threw 26 pitches in the 19 inning game vs. the Yankees. As I write this he has thrown 38 today.
Edit: done after 50.

On the bright side, Miley's got 3 years and $19.25 million worth of time to turn things around.

Good gracious. If they can hit it to Desmond two or three more times they may be able to tie this up.

I gotta say, Brock Holt has been crazy-impressive offensively so far. Nice bat-to-ball skills and a lot of hard contact.

This offense is so good and so fun to watch. Papi and Sandoval with the day off, but we really have some lefty mashers on this team.

Now that it's a game again I think you have to put Ortiz in for Craig next time he's due up. i want him to rebound, but it's definitely not happening today (or likely ever it seems).
Also Hanley's HR was tattooed. I think that extra muscle is going to pay dividends in the power department for sure. He's been a scary hitter thus far.

Isn't Desmond suppose to be a plus defender?
I think they want Craig to be Carp 2.0 to rebuild his value. Tough day for a guy fighting for playing time.
