There is a lot more to be encouraged about with this team then you would think reading this thread. Seriously people, ERA is not a predictive stat!
Two of our starters I feel much better about now than at the start of the season. (Buchholz and Kelly)
One starter I feel slightly better about. (Masterson)
One I feel exactly the same about, and I was optimistic. (Porcello)
And one I feel a good amount worse about. (Miley)

I'd also feel better if this rotation has shown me something. It hasn't. Yeah it's pretty hard to see when you are covering your eyes.

BTW this game isn't even over, which may not be obvious just from reading the thread.

Aaaand Steven Wright warming up. I hate you, John Farrell. This is wrong. Blast another part of his game if you're so inclined but, Farrell is top-notch at handling pitching staffs. If you must blast someone, blast the dude who dumped this flotsam on Farrell's lap. getting sick and tired of this ****, Ben

Who wouldn't be outraged the way this team has played the past 4 days!! Just got to keep fighting though and be positive.

BTW this game isn't even over, which may not be obvious just from reading the thread. You mean we might be back on an 89 win pace? Thank god! I almost jumped! But in all seriousness, every argument for this teams success this year revolved around how flawed every other team in the division is as well. No one thinks the pitching is great. Everyone sees the holes. But just like the first 20 games, this team will play the next 142 with anyone in the division and finish with eighty-something wins and a shot at the division.

I guess I'm not seeing the starters fail to go 6 innings, give up the most runs in baseball, near the worst in home runs allowed, and near the bottom in walks allowed. Masterson is going to regress unless his velocity improves. Porcello is probably over throwing as he all of a sudden has much higher strike out numbers, Buchholz will dominate then get shredded and/or land on the DL. Kelly just absolutely losses control of the strike zone in spurts and Miley has just been garbage.

Would I be out of line saying Craig should be in AAA until he can demonstrate any value?

At this point, I'm more worried about the hitting than the pitching. Especially Bogaerts. While I think he'll eventually get it, I think he might be one of those players who struggles for a couple years first. Hope I'm wrong.

There is a lot of proverbial fat on this roster that can be trimmed.
The likes of Victorino, Craig and Nava come to mind.

"This is wrong" is a pretty poor response to that. One, 'math', by design, ignores human element. Two, Farrell laughs at its conclusions. Three, I didn't read it because I hardly ever read this ****. The pitching coach, in this case, or the game manager are far more experienced to handle the situation, and handle it best. Five, what does your response have to do with my continuing effort to ridicule this ridiculous 'pitching staff'?

This is also wrong. I don't want the team I've been rooting for since spermhood to win by default. I want them to be a great team. The best they can be.
