FOR those of us barely watching, what would have happened if he held at 3rd? and, with that in mind, explain why it was not worth the shot at home. If he held at 3rd he would not have gotten out, but chance for a double play. Tough to say it was the wrong play by Mookie, but the DP would have been tough. so it would have been 1st and 3rd instead of 1st and 2nd. In a best case, with no DP. with 2 outs. big freakin' deal. Going home on that play is the right decision!

Really Ortiz?
Try running out of the damn box....it's the least you can do when you are hitting .210.

Silverman wrote today about Rodriguez's bounce-back from the Jays game, "Another difference is that the Blue Jays loaded their lineup with right-handed hitters, a tactic that led Rodriguez to lose faith in his slider. The slider was back last night, along with his fastball and changeup." I didn't see that Jays game beyond a couple of plays, but, if true, that's something to keep an eye on. If a team can take away ERod's slider by stacking RHH on him, that's a problem. He'll need to get a cutter or something else to attack them with to be as good as he has the potential of being.

The overreaction of the Sandoval an Ramirez has been unbearable, especially when you factor it's only been about 70 games. Sandoval is right around his career averages and Ramirez has looked remarkably better at the plate and LF now that he's healed from that play in May.
Betts is heating up at the right time. Swihart was at 2nd before Napoli scored from 2nd last night, his speed is incredible for a catcher. The core of Bogaerts, Betts, E-Rod, & Swihart give me faith in the future of this team.

Not for nothing but E-Rod did struggle a little against Toronto but the defense didn't help. Remember the drop fly balls that day? Another thing that bugged me was he finished the fourth I believe they were down 6-0. Why not just call it a night for the kid. Why did Farrell have to trot him out for the fifth? But this. Was a good test to bounce back this kid is for real. Compare Felix and E-rod both lefties and from Ven. That's about it. I wanted Felix to be E-Rod.
I still blame the players and Rosenthal's article is funny how are we gonna do another 2012 and clean up the roster? That was a one time dream come true.
Okay. So we won two in a row now is the problem do we have a rotation to sustain this? We had one three game winning streak. Except for us the East is in a dead heat. If we end up sellers Ben could get a bundle for Buch. I keep thinking the Cubs are gonna pursue him.

He wasn't throwing strikes, and he wasn't missing bats. Until further evidence, I'd attribute it to an off-day. I was actually impressed with how he could battle THAT lineup as long as he did on an day when he clearly wasn't throwing well and didn't get any help from his defense.

I wonder what people would be saying if Sandoval made that baserunning blunder. But Mookie Betts is above all criticism apparently Admittedly didn't catch the game last night so I don't know what happened, but I think the phrase "rookie mistake" comes into play somewhat here. Not justifying anything, but just saying that veterans tend to catch more heat for those kinds of things in a general sense.

No Rusney again today. He came in late in the game last night for D. He's either nursing an injury or so deep in the dog house he can't get a bone.
On Erod. I've heard several teammates refer to him as that. Satan is too busy messing with Red Sox leather to hurt any cats.

I like Holt a lot but not sure benching Castillo is a good idea. He needs everyday at bats.

The core of Bogaerts, Betts, E-Rod, & Swihart give me faith in the future of this team. aWAR, ages 22 and younger: 5.1 Harper, 1st pick overall in draft 3.0 Machado, 3rd pick overall 2.1 Addison Russell (prorated for fewer PA; and he's also 21), 11th pick 2.1 Betts, 172nd pick 1.7 Bogaerts, signed for the #86 slot recommendation Two of these things are not like the others.

No clue what they are doing with Castillo? It's almost like Farrell doesn't want him up here but he has no choice but to take up a roster spot.
Can't wait to see what Porcello does today.

I thought Pedroia was supposed to be back in the lineup today, too. boston.redsox.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=bosGot it here. It's still listed as 6/20 line up. KC not yet available. Sox just updated the line up. It matches the one greg has posted.Bogaerts off, Pedey back in, Holt to ss.
