Just to be clear here. We're ok with moving Mookie to RF. But, we weren't willing to try him at 3b because he didn't have a strong enough arm?? As I was told time and time again this past off-season.

To me the real excitement in this game is Orsillo's ties.

Does Marrero have any experience outside of SS? I think he's played some 2B/3b to increase his versatility.

Hey Eduardo, maybe try not melting down during your next start? Just a thought.

Care to explain? I think it's a perfectly fine move. I don't think Betts CF/Bradley RF is much worse production-wise than Bradley CF/Betts RF, and the couple runs you'd maybe lose are offset by the fact that, since Betts projects to be a first-division starter but is new to CF, you want him getting as many reps in CF as possible; conversely, because Bradley might be a 4th outfielder on a good team, you want him getting reps in the outfield corners. On the JBJ side: I don't think he profiles very well as a 4th outfielder - you can't use him to negate LOOGYs and he's not a great pinch runner. I still believe he can be a starter in CF though (or at least the long side of a platoon). Plus, he already has almost 200 IP in the corners in the majors and several more in Pawtucket, I challenge you to show me one play where you can honestly say he would have gotten a better result if only he had more experience there. On the Betts side: I believe the need for pampering professional baseball players is way overstated. Everyone's favourite example is of course Bogaerts moving to 3B in 2014 and his subsequent struggles at the plate. It's a great story but it doesn't stand up well to scrutiny - objectively speaking, the most likely explanation for his struggles at the plate just then is "coincidence". As for that hurting his development at his original position of shortstop ... well come on, you've seen him play SS this year. I'm calling bull**** on the theory that playing another position for a while does any sort of irreversible harm. And it's not like Betts has been struggling Hanley-style to the point where you say "wow, he really needs all the reps he can get." In fact, if it were up to me, Betts would be playing 2B today. Bradley had a couple bad plays when he was in RF earlier this year that were the result of bad reads-- I remember them very clearly because they were so atypical. The trajectory of batted balls does differ quite a bit between balls hit to CF versus the corner OF (particularly carved balls down the line with a lot of extra spin). Because Bradley relies on reads rather than raw athleticism for his range, I think he'll actually benefit quite a bit from the extra reps. I'm not sure he'll hit enough to be much more than a second-division starter in CF and think he should start his acclimation to the corner outfield spots sooner rather than later. Betts is still new to the outfield (he's only had a year of playing time out there), which you can see by virtue of some roughness around the edges in terms of routes. Additional playing time at the position he's likely to play long-term will help him-- this is player development 101.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. His arm wasn't accurate enough for 2b either?? The throws are much farther at 3B. Arm accuracy at the position matters a lot more. ADD: I'm also against moving Betts to RF, and part of that is because I think his weaker arm makes him a poor fit at the position. So I'm entirely consistent in my thought processes.

The o's announcers, Thorne and Palmer are literally giddy about how quickly thay unraveled. Palmer I believe, "predicted" a bomb for JJ hardy 3 times during the at bat. Anyways, is it just me or does anyone else miss Manny a little bit in left? Seems like no one can play the wall anymore
That unraveled*

Unless of course he continued his first 3 innings over the course of the next 6, in which case he's Koufax.

Been following on gameday. Three of the hits were on pitches out of the strike zone (while ahead on the count) and two more were on pitched on the corner.
For someone watching, was E-Rod bad today or were the Orioles just good?

You should maybe read all the way through that article: It's not like Betts is a terrible CF defender. My impression is that his range is not that much worse than Bradley's, as Betts has better footspeed, which compensates at least somewhat for his worse routes. The biggest difference between them is arm strength, which matters more in RF than CF and is part of the reason I prefer Bradley in RF.

Playing JBJ in right field is kind of ridiculous, so I fully expect John Farrell to do it. I said this before and you rightly changed my mind with getting Mookie (who is I would consider well above average) the reps. Jackie just spoiled some of us so much with the howitzer and the magic carpet ride.
