At least Eduardo's BB%-K% is improving. It's K-BB%, and yes, it is.

I'm glad Bradley's in the lineup. That said: man, is that a scary 6-9 in the batting order. Scary because it may actually be the best we can put together until guys start returning from injuries.

Did Bradley just take the turn to second?

i've learned alot on this website...and I have learned enough to know that Eduardo's outing was actually very good and his xFIP is low because he struck out 5, walked none, and the runs were a factor of irregular BABIP.
Now, furthermore, it was probably unnecessary to pull him after only 67 pitches, because none of his perfomance for those 67 pitches tells us anything about the next 30 or so pitches. Alternatively, he will be on an innings count this year, so in this case pulling him may actually be beneficial.
I feel like I can now join the ranks of the mathematically enlightened.

Been following on gameday. Three of the hits were on pitches out of the strike zone (while ahead on the count) and two more were on pitched on the corner. For someone watching, was E-Rod bad today or were the Orioles just good?Would like to know too.

If Eduardo could develop a cutter he'll be a monster...but better said than done.

If Eduardo could develop a cutter he'll be a monster...but better said than done. Or if he would throw his changeup more than 3 times a game.

They hit some pitchers' pitches, but Rodriguez could have done a better job mixing up his pitches. They were sitting on his fastball. Early in the year (about week 4 or so) a college coach pointed out to me that the pitch sequencing by the Red Sox had been pretty poor. I don't know if this is true or not because I haven't paid enough attention to what is called/shaken off etc, as well as location of the pitches vs where the catcher put the mitt. But if he's right - and he is a Sox fan and has continued to say this to me since the college playoffs ended for his team and he's been paying more attention - it's a completely disappointing, albeit totally fixable problem.

Bogaerts is the best player on this team, hands down.

At any rate this looks like one of those things that results from having a young catcher and a young pitcher who have had only limited time in AAA. Or am I being overly optimistic? Also, might it be better to pair Rodriguez with a more experienced catcher?

My thoughts on Aro based on today's game: throws lots of strikes, but not sure he has the secondary stuff or the command to be a late-inning guy. Think Scott Atchinson.

So they get within 2 runs but Farrell's going to leave in first time in MLB guy? Just awful.

I'm sick of losing to the Pierces, Youngs, Parmelees, Flaherties and I don't know who the eff else and led by Showalter for years now. They seem to own us! Maybe the numbers guys here can throw the W-L against them.

By my count Rodriguez threw 51 fastballs, five changeups and 10 sliders. In the 4th inning he threw 22 fastballs. Most of them in the 94-95 MPH range, but to Weiters, all three were at 93 including the one hit hit for a homerun. In that inning Rodriguez threw three of his five changeups and six of his ten sliders. Five of the six sliders resulted in hits, including two doubles. The sixth was the SAC fly that knocked him out of the game.
In the first three innings he threw 29 fastballs, 2 changeups and four sliders (three in the third inning).
Clearly he was relying almost entirely on his fastball in the first three innings. In the fourth, when he began to use more of his other two pitches, the slider apparently was not very good. While they probably were sitting on the fastball, they hit the sliders more than the fastballs.

Robbie Ross is just not an MLB caliber pitcher. Embarrassing. He's lucky he has JBJ.

Why the hell would you test JBJ's arm?

Ha! As JBJ was settling under it I was praying that Lough would tag. What a fool.
