I would like shaw to be 1b at the beginning of next year but it is reasonable for him to start in Pawtucket until the ham ram situation is resolved.

Shaw continues to befuddle me. IMO it's been long enough for him to hve been adjusted to. It just seems like he's never been really hot, and never been ice cold. Like he was in the minors a bit. He doesn't get cheated, he spits on bad pitches, and plays a couple positons at either an average or possibly a little better level
Honestly, Im beginning to be on board with him next year if someone were willing to take Hanram as their third baseman. I love Hanleys power when he's healthy, but that's so much money saved for a 2 win player at this point. He's 4 or 5 homers from Napoli and Mike got HOT and has been decent in Texas

There is something about a lead this staff does not like.

Swihart's true FB% was 3.9% in the first half and 26.3% in the second half. It resulted in an .812 OPS in the second half. Huge improvement made in season. Really impressed with him. I think he's a 105-110 wRC+ hitter next year.

Plus if the Bosox are smart they'll see what if anything CV can do. BC Handling a pitching staff and shutting down the bases/strike zone I feel is more important than Swihart going 260 with a dozen dingers

There is something about a lead this staff does not like. Miley showed us something a little. Been a trend for him the last 6 to 8 starts knock on wood.

Mookie's reached the 6.0 bWAR mark. Such a gifted all-around player.

This just feels like the game that the bullpen will cough up. Given enough exposure, they figure to allow runs sooner or later.

Mookie may be the guy you try to extend this winter. Doubtful that Boras would advise Xander to take much less than full market value to take him up to age 30. Mookie and his agent my be more accomodating to a fair offer that gives a nice signing bonus and high end arb near equivalencies. tough to turn down $70M or so when you're this young and it's laid out in front of you.

Man, it's been said before, but Betances/Miller is as dominant a back-end of a bullpen as any I've ever seen. Those guys are really good.
Not Mookie-proof good, but really good.

9 walks tonight. Frustrating game to watch (besides Mookie. Mookie is not frustrating to watch).
10*

Somehow the bullpen kept the Yankees off the board the last two innings, but what a struggle!! Hard to see how the Sox are going to pull this one out.

I'm gonna miss Joe C when he is phased out... A la Orsillo's replacing Enberg. Just called "We go to the bottom of the fifth, 5-5." I've been noticing a lot of those little slips this season.
I hope he has the job for the next twenty years.

the short-handed bench is annoying ... and it will be versus CLEVE, too.
FYI: Tiebreaker between NYY vs HOUS to determine site of TUES game: goes to HOUS.
4-3 head to head.
