This is what rooting for the Sox is supposed to feel like. I am glad that posts have trended towards backing our nine with wanting victories as opposed to higher draft pick. I totally get that may have been a byproduct of frustration and venting, and high draft picks are sexy, but man it feels good to wake up with the victories piling up. And to possibly sweep the Yankees in a late september matchup, I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it. The whole point of having high draft picks is to get to where the Sox actually are right now. In other words, it's tough to worry about the Sox missing out on young talent because the young talent they already have is performing so well. This is a far better way them to finish out a lost season than what we saw in '12 and '14.

This is a far better way them to finish out a lost season than what we saw in '12 and '14. That's true. But to continue, what guarantee would a high draft pick give us a better ballclub next year or down the road? I am glad I was one who wanted victories and not tanks.

I am exceedingly happy that the Sox have delayed the NYY celebration of 10,000 wins. Now just one more time.

Mookie has been a revelation. Hard to believe last year Mookie started in AA. This kid is a top 15 player in baseball and only just turning 23.
I am so, so excited and grateful for this team and this core. Thank you, Ben.

This kid is a top 5 player in baseball and only just turning 23. Eh, this is a slight exaggeration. He's 20th in position player fWAR and 14th in position player bWAR this year.

I am exceedingly happy that the Sox have delayed the NYY celebration of 10,000 wins. Now just one more time. Only a .5% chance of this happening per fangraphs, but I'm rooting for them having to wait till 2016 for that 10,000 win while watching the wildcard game from the comfort of their homes.

Whoops, I actually meant to type 15 and must have missed the key. Definitely not top 5 yet, thanks for the catch. I'm mostly impressed with his incredible ability to rapidly adapt at the highest level of the game.

regarding the story of the pizza for the homeless m.redsox.mlb.com/news/article/152435680/mookie-betts-caps-month-with-two-homer-game"Me and Blake [Swihart], when we went out to eat, we had a pizza left and he said the night before he had given it to a homeless guy and he hit two home runs [on Tuesday], so I had a pizza and I gave it to a homeless guy and hit two home runs. So maybe now we pass it onto the next person," I am living from hotel to hotel, so technically that is homeless? Any time Betts, Swihart or other want to buy pizza, I am glad to help out (in eating said pizza) btw, exactly how many pizzas did they order that there was an extra?

I am exceedingly happy that the Sox have delayed the NYY celebration of 10,000 wins. Now just one more time. Does the 10,000 include wins from the years in the early 1900s when the franchise was the Baltimore Orioles? In any event, let some other team yield the 10,000th win.

Gotta say, the crowds this week in NY have been pathetic considering the fact the Yankees are in the playoff hunt.
edit to add: also, the RF in this park is ridiculous. Can't complain because the Sox have taken advantage of it this series (Marrero with the oppo power?), but still ... stupid.

If not president then, more importantly, still a Red Sox in 2016

Well, the Sox scored a run in a two-out inning. I say two outs because Rutledge spotted them the third one with a dumb mistake during a dumb plan.
Ugh.

This is not a good Red Sox lineup. Whew. Rutledge, Leon, Craig, Marrero ... that's not exactly a Murderer's Row.

Phew. Was almost worried Rich Hill would finish with fewer strikeouts than innings pitched.

Have you noticed how much crisper the DPs have been with Rutledge in for Pedroia? I don't think his decline in defense is some blip; he's noticeably and measurably worse.
And it takes a hurricane to keep Mookie in the yard right now.

With Marrero at third and Pedey at 2B, Hanley might be pasaable at 1B.

With a preponderance of lefties coming up around the bottom of the order, and Hill having just struck out the side in the 6th with a bit more than 100 pitches, why replace him? He is definitely auditioning for 2016, has an easy release, and was improvimg as the rain disipated. A seventh inning on a short leash might have helped his stat-line and maybe a chance to win. Nitpicking, I know, but am rooting for this home-boy.
