Before many teams have even gotten started, I feel like our off-season is 95% done. Other than some roster juggling, I can only see signing a halfway decent reliever at most, outside of covering for an injury in spring training.
Edit: I'm not comfortable with the amount, but keeping the #12 pick and shoring up our rotation needed to be done. I still like it better than the Kimbrel deal when all is said and done.

Ken Rosenthal @ken_Rosenthal 7 sec. Confirmed: Price deal with #RedSox is seven years, $217M. No deferred money. Three-year opt-out.

Not my money so I don't care but I won't feel great about him until he pitched well in playoffs. Glad they got him though

Let him walk no matter what if he opts out. Hopefully they are paying him a ton in the first three years so he wants to opt out

Boom. DD works quick and efficient. Price gets his opt out in 3 years, though $31 per, who knows where things will be. If he opts out, so be it. Ideally they're able to develop someone a la Lester in three years, or even just get some of their younger guys to the next level to mitigate him potentially opting out. $ talks

And the opt-out after 3 years, which I personally love.
Stay healthy, pitch well and chase that top dollar after three years, Mr. Price.

Well that is mucho dinero. Think you might be able to make ends meet with that, Chris? You have no idea how crushing student debt can be, Dick... ----- Third-year opt-out is interesting. Almost have to assume he opts out unless something went wrong, right? He'll be 32 with a four-year deal on the table. Probably would be wanting one last contract. By that point, Trey Ball will be ready to take over as the staff ace. <ducks tomatoes>

Ken Rosenthal @ken_Rosenthal 7 sec. Confirmed: Price deal with #RedSox is seven years, $217M. No deferred money. Three-year opt-out. With the three year player opt-out, this could be much more than 217m, depending on what you think the chances of decline are. If there is a 30% chance of decline to Sabathia levels in years 6-7, then add $15m. Add another 9m in luxury tax in 2016 (plus more each year unless they dump salary or the luxury cap is raised). True value is somewhere close to $240m, which was expected.

Anyone else think DDo is one of those Christmas shoppers who gets you everything on your list and is done shopping by Dec 1st? He skipped Black Friday and got everything at full price though.
Right at my max comfort range. Like the opt out actually.

I like the opt out. If he opts out it probably means he pitched well and wants more money. That also protects the Red Sox against the decline years of the contract. Plus if Boston and Price are really not a match made in heaven he can leave after three years.

This is now Price, Mookie Betts and Don't Hightower all from Nashville. You're welcome!
Happy it's done and can now relax about team needs for next year. They're all met! Nice work Mr Dombrowski. And thanks Mr. Henry

If Price opts out, Hanley contract will be over and there's one year remaining in Fat Pablo contract, the FO can sign Mookie and Bogaerts to extensions

Why would he ever opt out at 33 years old? Unless salaries are go up 40-50% over the next few years, there's no way he opts out.
