He's ready for Boston, bring him up (not really). Anyone catch Urias getting lit up by the Mets the other night? I know he was doing well @ AAA, but still, 19 years old? Kind of makes you shy away from bringing a kid up to early.

This is great news! Makes their opener that much more exciting now.

Just tried to get tickets for the game, which is a virtual sell-out. Good for the Spinners.

Just tried to get tickets for the game, which is a virtual sell-out. Good for the Spinners. They sell out most games actually. It's not a big park - they would only finish third or so in the league in attendance each year when they would sell out every game. Will be interesting to see what the new ownership does with LeLacheur.

Here is video of his last start in EXST that I took:
94-100 mph FB 96 average, 84-87 mph slider, 78-81 mph changeup

That's pretty crazy separation from fastball to changeup. The arm speed looked pretty good on it too.
And I can't believe that guy worked Onomatopoeia into the lyrics of the song (around 2:20). lol

Ian'll have a Scouting Scratch on his Lowell start very soon. Also, next start is in Salem, as reported by... me? But Alex has confirmed, so it's actually believable now.

A month's worth of solid starts in Salem...he could be a very nice trade chip for us at the deadline.

Yeah....We are where we are this year because of the young former farm guys. I keep thinking that patience is the virtue. Kopech has that rare arm (as do, apparently Groome and Espinoza). I don't want to trade our guys (Kopech would be an obvious one to go) for lightning in a bottle hope. I think we have the makings of a true juggernaut if we don't succumb to pressure to win it all now.

I'm with you on our arms. I would trade Devers &/or Benintendi over Kopech & Espinoza. We have had difficulty in developing pitchers as opposed to position players. Keep the young pitchers unless you are getting a MLB pitcher with 3+ years of control, not a 1 or 2 year rental. Also (edit) can we change the title to just "Michael Kopech" instead of the fractures hand in altercation? That is behind us now.

And, Alex being the nice guy he is, he reported it as confirmation of your report ... I'll have to plan to trip up to Frederick next week around his start. His delivery is much improved over when they drafted him, iirc. I don't really remember what was up with it, but I remember it as pretty rough.

Wow he's seriously cleaned up his mechanics since being drafted. Looks like a legit potential #1 out there just by the body and mechanics. Hopefully he stops punching things and develops that changeup.

Hopefully he stops punching things and develops that changeup. Yeah, he still needs a legit changeup. Right now it's more show-me pitch than solid third offering (or fourth, if he gets back to differentiating slider and curve). I'm not sold on him as a 1, but definitely a good 2. Edit: That said, the makings of a quality MLBer with significant upside are there. I really hope they don't trade him.

I'll have to plan accordingly as well. Planned on going Saturday, which would be the tenth game out of the break. I'm doubting that's Kopech (he'd be on 9 days rest in his Salem debut). Whoever starts tonight will be Sunday's starter. EDIT: Looks like he's throwing tonight, so that Sunday if the schedule holds.

It depends on what your thoughts are on his mental make up. He's ahd two brushes we wish he hadn't. Anyway, because of them I think he's worth more to us right now than he would be someboy else.

Agreed. I feel like we would be selling low on him right now because of the character questions. He probably needs to show he is healthy and dominant without any off the field issues for at least the rest of this year.
