Lol at that Jacoby Ellsbury throw "home" on the game winning Sac Fly.
Didn't even make the pitchers mound. The ball wasn't even hit that deep.

Jackie is really coming into his own and I think this is here to stay. Driving the ball to all fields and getting himself in great counts.

This is where having a loaded bullpen makes a difference.... we're 3 outs away from Smith-Koji-Kimbrel. Such a gamechanger to be able to hand the ball off to that trio.

Lol at that Jacoby Ellsbury throw "home" on the game winning Sac Fly. Didn't even make the pitchers mound. The ball wasn't even hit that deep. So true! Betts cannon redeemed his nonchalant kinda big timing the catch, followed by JBJ dinger and capped off by the chicken armed throw by Ellsbury. It's good to be alive, now back to the festivities. One tequila, two tequilas three tequilas floor!

LOL. I love Bogaerts, but yeah, he's not winning a gold glove any time soon with Simmons, Iglesias, and Lindor all in the same league.

They say Mookie couldn't stick at SS because of his arm. Then you see plays like that. Is his strength just better than his accuracy?

The superstar is 0-4 with 5 LOB Good hitters can't have bad nights. He's also been spectacular defensively, which is at this point a nearly equal part of his value.

Barnes looked sharp. His development would be nice. That curve was tight.

Barnes looked sharp. His development would be nice. That curve was tight. He has looked a lot better in the last few appearances. I'm getting pretty excited about him and Cosart.

Awesome stuff that no one noticed until 108 Stiches today: Ortiz has a .330/.390/.651 line vs. LHP in 118 PAs since last July 2nd when he made an adjustment to open his stance more so he could see the ball better. He made a similar adjustment early in his Sox career to deepen his crouch to get better plate coverage, with results just as dramatic. Like Pedro before him, a very large part of his success is smarts.

Farrell's refusal to pinch hit for his catchers....... Was there a righty warming? Otherwise, seems like that's a spot they're paying Young for.

Saw this on Fangraphs: Machado = A-Rod Correa = Chipper Jones Lindor = Nomar Xander = Jeter Seager = Tejada So 4 gold gloves, and a countless number of gift bags given, are in his future?

Barnes seems to be getting a lot more grounders lately. I like the direction he seems to be headed in.

Even guys who throw hard have hittable fastballs if they're not located well. See: Kimbrel, Craig earlier this year. Owens with good command of his FB would be a very good pitcher, because his change is outstanding. Cliff Lee got by alright with an equally pedestrian FB. It may take a couple of years, or never happen, but the problem for Owens is almost exclusively command/control. Nice to see that Cliff Lee is the new Greg Maddux. I thought that was Grienke? Seriously, though, I'm holding out hope that Owens refines his FB command to at least average. He has good movement on it and his change is superb. He's the prototype of a late-developer. He needs a lot more seasoning, but FB velocity isn't his problem.

JBJ still plays like a winner. It seems like he comes up with a lot of big plays for a guy hitting 9th.
Regarding Owens, I saw him once in Portland give up rocket after rocket on his fastball one day so I do have some bias on that possibly but I don't see a pitcher who is going to blow a fastball by anyone and I also don't see a guy who realistically is going to be a control pitcher. I love the deception but why would mlb players go up there swinging against him? They should just wait him out until he has to throw it over the plate. And when they do, they will hit a lot of 2 and 3 run dingers.
Is it possible he develops into a stud. Sure, but I would trade him in a hearbeat for significant value. He is good starting pitcher depth. That's it. I don't see him as a long term solution with the Sox. Maybe a #4 or 5 at best.
