Man, it is REALLY HARD to get a three up/three down inning against the Sox hitters right now. Must be exhausting.
edit: and then you give up bombs.

OK, so it's wide K zone inside: Porcello and CV should take note.

Xander Bogaerts is really great baserunner. Was about to say the same thing. His reads are awesome, and he get first to third really quickly as well. It's been really fun to see him become an asset in all phases of the game.

To be clear, the problem with RBIs is that it tells you less about the player than it does about the team. It's not so much antiquated as it is largely irrelevant. It's both in a way. There are a lot of baseball fans who still measure players' values by RBIs as crazy as it sounds. I realize that RBI is dependent upon the baserunners who get on in front of you, etc, and it's not a tool I'd ever use to analyze a player, but as somebody who enjoys the box scores I like it when my players hit the 80 RBI (Ie. I got a kick out of it when 8 Red Sox players in 2003 were clumped between 85 and 105 RBIs, even though it didn't measure really measure anything.) or 100 RBI mark during the season, even if it's totally irrelevant and worthless.

Some of Porcello's curves are so pretty

Just in case you we're wondering, guess whose middle infield duo leads the majors in fWAR?
That would be the Sox. Just ahead of the 'stros.
But that lead should be increasing today with Pedey's big night.

Another umpire whose zone changes inning to inning, if not batter. Just lovely.

Porcello' pitches do not appear to have the same movement they did earlier in the year.

And I despise when Farrell wastes Taz and Kimbrel in a blowout and the next game is close. It doesn't work that way. Taz and Kimbrel and to an extent Koji have been rusting away. I like them getting rest, but too much rest isn't a good thing either. If you go about a week without using them and suddenly you have a close game I doubt they'd be as effective having been on ice for so long. They need to have some sort of rhythm. Ideally they shouldn't pitch more than two days in a row and they shouldn't idle for more than 4 games or so.

Porcello' pitches do not appear to have the same movement they did earlier in the year. The changeup has looked really good in my opinion, he's thrown some good curves too. Just seems to have battled his command more today, and looked especially worse throwing out of the stretch.

Mookie cost himself a hit there not running full speed all the way.

I think Mookie is out there upon review.
Damn it feels good to see a Red Sox team where Mookie Betts is the worst non-catcher hitter in the lineup.

Really rough attempt by JBJ to score, but I guess it's not that often that Pedroia grounds to the pitcher.
I imagine Bradley and Shaw will cool off in time, but Betts will pick up the slack in the meantime so this is gonna be the best offense in the AL. Will we finally get that Red Sox/Cubs world series we were all hoping for in 2003?
I don't get a chance to see too many games, but damn Dave O'Brien is so much better than Don Orsillo. Cannot believe we had to endure so many Orsillo/Remy gigglefests before they came to their senses and moved O'Brien to TV.

Nothing says baseball like playing just over half a game in 2:20+ minutes.

What a massacre of A's pitching. When was the last time the Sox scored this many runs in a three-game series?

This is without a doubt the most fun I've had watching a Sox team in a long time even considering 2013.
Bogaerts with the Jeteresque play.

It helps that Billy Butler was running, but that was, dare I say it, Jeter-esque.

This game is beyond dumb; Farrell better not get Kimbrel, Uehara or Tazawa into this game. About to wipe the floor with the Athletics, Price tomorrow with a pretty rested bullpen going against the Astros bodes pretty well for a good series there. Go 3-1 there and you'll be 24-14—a 102 win pace.
I really dislike that Bogaerts utilized the Jeter jumpthrow there. Don't do that, please.
