Unless some of these guys are signing for a much lower bonus than expected, I don't think they can offer Groome more than 4 million. And that will continue to go down if they don't start signing 100K guys. Note: I did the math very very very quickly They basically need three senior signs in rounds 6-10 to get to $4mm (need to save approx. $650k, incl. 5% overage). 6$281,100 7 208 $210,700 8 238 $180,300 9 268 $168,400 10 298 $157,200 If they sign Groome for 4 million or less, then he was just an absolute steal. These next couple picks will be very interesting.

I really like the Shawaryn pick by the way. Very good numbers the past two years (despite reports of an inconsistent spring this year).

I see our 2nd and 3rd round picks going slightly below slot.

There's also the chance that Groome really wanted to get drafted by the Red Sox and really wants to start playing minor league ball and that he just wants to get a good payday but is willing to go to the Sox for a bit less than elsewhere. I think Groome will sign with the Sox. I think the Sox know what it takes and aren't scared off by it. Have a good feeling about it. Nothing more than that.

Even if we senior sign picks 6-10, assuming we sign all of them, I'm happy with the coup.

Nothing like giving $3-4 million to a 17-year-old with "immaturity and idiocy" (per Keith Law) issues. What could possibly go wrong?

One of the most popular sports stars in the area right now is immature and an idiot (I say that in the nicest way possible) and it's worked out okay.
The kid is 17. Pretty sure the majority of us (and certainly pro-caliber athletes) have various levels of immaturity and idiocy at that age.
Didn't Law also say he's not really worried about it.

I'm assuming you're joking Temp but I'm more referring to the guy who once answered the question of what super power he'd like with:
"Time Machine".
And, if the fact that he thinks a time machine is a super power doesn't do it for you, I give you his response for WHY he would want a time machine:
"So I can go to Florida".

The same Keith Law had him as the second best player in this draft, said most of the rumors surrounding him were false, and said again today he would've drafted him top 3 even with the inside knowledge he has about his "character issues".

If they love Cape guys, maybe they go with Brusa as a senior sign.

Pretty sure the Red Sox are just checking off the remaining players from the 2015 Team USA NCT roster.
