It's kinda funny. Buchholz is pitching exactly the same way he was in the 1st inning (not terrible and not great) and no one makes a peep in the last 3 innings.

Sending Buchholz out there for another inning is fireable. It's conceding the game. Well, at least we agree that Farrell ought to be fired, even though we have quite different reasons for thinking so.

Buchholz's continued inability to miss bats is troubling.

If people would stick to legitimate criticism instead of bitching about popup singles, it would make me feel less dumb for reading it.

Lol. you will literally complain about any result that isn't perfect no matter how good or bad a pitch is. You know what the Joke is? Bucholz on this Team. Another great move by Dombrowski. Under .500 in the month of June with a MLB low ERA amongst playoff teams at 4.3.. Keep on Tradin Dave, you ain't made a bad move yet! What move? Exercising his option? Thinking that was a bad idea is just flat-out mindless. Ian Kennedy got 5/70. Would you prefer they had signed him instead of exercising Buchholz's option? This is starting to look like a standard "contribution" from you. Maybe you'd be better suited for Boston.com?

After the 1st you want us singing his praises now? because hes not puking all over himself for the entire game? Maybe he should puke prior to the game, get it out of his system and then go out and pitch.

Talk about senile, what a moron. If you've watched baseball for any length of time, you understand that is what happens at times. It even happened to David Price the other night. There is a difference between a pitcher unable to pitch at all and what Buchholz was doing in the 1st inning. We've seen bad Buchholz pitch a lot this year and that wasn't one of those times. Try to figure it out and stop making Red Sox fans and this board look dumb. Legitimate criticism is welcome.

As I stated before and the facts are undisputed. Clay Bucholz 9 years in Boston. Minus his Rookie season only 3 years can be called productive. Two of those productive years were cut short by Injury resulting in missing half the season. 6 average to below average seasons with an ERA pushing 5 and more injury history. Add his velocity and K numbers declining the last 2 years. Money could have been spent on another arm for the 16 season. Kazmir, Fister and whomever else for equal or same money were out there...

You've been defending him ALL year. Don't say "he's been bad at times this year" because you were defending him even then. Again I understand bad luck and i'd be willing to dismiss it, but he doesn't get leeway for a few decent starts. And honestly this board does look dumb, because their are ppl on here like you. Absolutely delusional on another planet ppl, like you. Lucky homer by Prince there huh? soft hit? Keep living on fantasy island lol

In the End my friend, its called Mis-Management at the Ownership level. Lester and Lackey traded for peanuts while Bucholz continues his Redsox Hall of fame career. Yes, 31 million to Price will come back to bite them in the arse as well

I need to start calling to replace every single player (not just Buchholz) on the team when they have a bad game or bad week to make this board more intelligent.

I think people are grossly underestimating what adding another starter would do this farm system. This team has a lot of wholes. I dont think this is the year to go all in, given the quality of the pitching as a whole.
Betts and Bogaerts maturation is great news but the team will have them for a while. Losing Ortiz will suck but I think they can still get in as a wild card with a few tweaks, namely firing Farrell.

Brentz's swing has looked very compact today. Good day for him. I called it years ago. Brentz deserves a legit chance. Over the course of his Minor League career at least 40% of his hits are extra-base hits which = gap and HR power. You can talk all the sabor-metrics you want but that stat is telling. He deserves a legit opportunity.
