They eek into first place and quickly tumble out of it as quickly as possible.
Then fall down the stairs.
And roll into the elevator shaft.

Boggles my mind that half the team doesn't show up day in and day out and an average at best roster like Baltimore's stays competitive every year now.

This is very much not true, Baltimore is not average. The rotation is weak, sure, but everything else is actually pretty strong. Any number of attempted indirect communication about how IT MUST BE THE MANAGER DUDE doesn't make it true.

Didn't even hint at it being the manager, but you're pretty defensive of Farrell even when nobody is talking about him. I've pretty much made it clear that I don't think managers have a big effect on a season as a whole.

I've pretty much made it clear that I don't think managers have a big effect on a season as a whole. I wasn't being defensive of Farrell, although I'm defensive of his work for the Red Sox. Just come on, where do you think your wonderings about how the Orioles are this good while being this average and about how the Red Sox are underperforming would get? Even if it's not exactly true, the Orioles are pretty talented and the Red Sox are still somewhat flawed.

They have a worse rotation and lineup, and honestly at this point both are by a good margin. Obviously, Pomeranz was only added recently, though. If I was a betting man I would look at the Boston roster and say they will pull away, but it's hard to say that with much conviction. And although they are talented, they have absolutely overperformed recently. Granted, giant outlier seasons from Pierce and now Trumbo don't hurt.

I guess the #1 offense line up like Red Sox cannot hit against good pitchers which is why they have losing record when they scored less than any opponents. When they score lot of runs but still losing the games due to bad pitching. It's unfortunate situation they have this year. Whose fault? Players or coaches?

Hope Aaron Hill channels his inner Loretta next inning and puts an unexpected one in the monster.

Sweet pitching staff you've put together Mr. Dombrowski.

I guess Ziegler caught the same disease Kimbrel caught, Failure to Thrive when not pitching in a save situation syndrome.
This team just finds ways to lose!

Seems like the outcome of 90% of the Sox games are either the Sox win comfortably, or they lose a close game. I might be wrong about that, and I’m not in the mood to go back and look at it, but all these close losses are hard to swallow. I’m not going to blame this on Farrell again, maybe it’s not even his fault, but for the love of God can we please try Lovullo and hope that this somehow fixes itself?

While acknowledging the Red Sox are now like 24 games under their Pythag, sometimes Miguel Cabrera happens.

Betts must catch that ball. No excuses.
Farrell must go before it's to late

Sweet pitching staff you've put together Mr. Dombrowski. I agree the pitching staff has been the problem, but I’m not sure how you can blame Dombrowski for the failures of Price and Kimbrel, or the injury to E-Rod, it seems to me that if Price and Kimbrel had performed close to what was reasonably expected of them, and E-Rod hadn’t hurt his knee, we’d likely be talking about the Sox running away with the division, regardless of the other issues this pitching staff may have had.

Cabrera and Martinez were "on-base" 9 out 10 times today. That's that.
